What do you think boys? Can we maintain this brand of quality football? No doubt Eade will have something install for us? Can we get another 70,000 there this Friday night? Should be a cracker.........However I thought Saturday night would be a cracker! :o

yeah what are pies fans thoughts on this weeks game? worried at all or will the magpie wagon just keep on rolling, the only chance we have is winning in the middle coz if we dont u'll get too much ball down to ur quality forwards and we will be screwed, hope its a good game!

The thing about this game is that we will need to change the backline. We would probably have to drop Wakelin and Maxwell, and have Presti on Robbins and Clement on Johnson. Cant see how they will match up on our forwards, and their mids wouldnt be any better than Geelong. Frankly, we match up on them very well and if we can win in the midfield we should win comfortably.

Cant wait for the game the dogs play attractive football and so do the pies.
i read hahn done his hammy im guessing he's out of the game so thats a big out but they will probably gain Skipper and possibly Minson but he wont be fully fit anyways.
dogs game will work alot better on the G then it would on a ground like the SCG so i am predicting pies to win by about 7 or 8 goals with our big talls to be to much trouble.

wont presti be way too slow on robbins? and likewise with Clement? also if presti and clement are taken and wakelin is out who will you play on murphy? hasnt been too great the last couple of games but is due for a good game and when he isnt kicking goals he's running everywhere on leads to provide an option, would maxwell be a good match up? but you want to drop him? i dont really know the pies team very well
you also have to take into account that Grant will probably at least spend some time up forward so presti or clement would be a good option for him but then who do you put on robbins or johnson, correct me if im wrong but ur shorter quicker backs tend to be a bit like ours in that they arent particularly accountable and like finding space and initiating attack rather than sticking to their man
hahn isnt looking like he will play and Skip will be back, Minson is still very doubtful though

is that heath shaw? if it is i think he would be too short, Murph is very good overhead and already has 5cm on him

Shaw 181 cm
Murphy 186 cm

Heater plays deceptively tall, and has the speed to go with Murphy. I'd like to see him given first crack. If that fails, then Clement and Maxwell can do the job.

5 cm is a fair bit over 4 quarters if the ball comes in well.

Our midfield has pace to burn compared to Geelong's. So does our back line. Probably the main reason why we beat a near full strength Collingwood at the MCG in Round 1 last season. Of course, your midfield has more options and is collectively quicker this season.

lol ok then, play heath on murph, fine by me, murph will carve him up, 5 cm may not look much but it makes a difference, particularly because his armspan would be longer than heaths coz they are different body types, i hope you advise mick tho coz heath would be a dream match up on murph for us

Was watching Heath closely on Saturday night. My God he jogs like some sort of lop sided one legged orangutan. He’s deceptively quick though for such an ungainly mover. Was wrapt with his game on Saturday. He has Shaw courage, particularly overhead. I love having a Shaw in there doing the job.

The father/son picks are starting look like some value.

Oh yeah and Playfair has 8cm on Maxwell and Ottens has 11cm on Wakelin. We all know how they went.

u guys were talking about heath shaw, heath shaw is a short half back flanker whos more of a runner than a tight defender, wakelin or maxwell would be way better options for murphy as murphy plays like a key forward, plays tall and would be too good for shaw

i dont know how they went, wasnt watching, but im sure it would be :D:D:D:D, if they're not getting quality ball then any half-decent defender is going to beat his man easily no matter how tall

Rising star winner for '06!

i also think that our best defender shoudl take there best forward:
clement on murphy

Giansiracussa must be stopped! Perhaps a johnson job?!He is similar to didak in many ways and if we stop him and murphy the job is half done.

clement should play on brad johnson, as he is the doggies best forward.

lonie may be a surprise pick to stop r.murphy!! or id give maxwell the job to start with.

lockyer to robbins perhaps??

presti can take a grant if forward, or skipper, hahn if he plays etc.

Yep, Presti must take the big forwards as they rotate into the 50
Clement is good enough to go with Johnson
Robbins should be a Lockyer job methinks
Murphy is a danger, but seeing as Im not dropping Maxwell, he should get first crack
No spot for Wakelin Im afraid, Im thinking Id like to see Rhyce Shaw come in
C2 out, C3 in (he is fit right?)

If we play Rocca, Tarrant, C3 and then have Fraser pushing forward as well, we will be hard to beat, and it will also prevent Grant going forward, you would think. So who do the Dog backs take?

Harris to Rocca? Grant to C3? Neither could go with Taz, Morris to Taz, good match-up Id say...

Make Gilbee accountable, play a defensive forward on him maybe. Swan up forward? He's still a weapon up there. Although Gilbee hasnt been the star of last year...

Ive probably dribbled more :D:D:D:D than ever in this post, hopefully some makes sense!

Hargrave will most likely get Tarrant.Done good jobs on him before and kept O'Loughlin to 6 disposals last week.Harris will probably get Rocca purely for size.IMO Mcmahon will get Davis and Morris will be helping Didak pee he will be wearing him that tight.

We would love to get Grant forward particularly in Hahns absence but we dont really have that option.I think our small forwards can kick a winning score it is just a matter of supply and also stopping your dangerous forwards.
