Ok if we lose games not by (99) and playing the young kids i would fine with that. We need to get game time in players like Pears, Myers, Hislop Hocking etc so we can see were the club is going. Well if there not ready for AFL as people might say by getting them game time might just make them AFL ready. like too say wat other people think?

Spot on. Although I think we should also play some of the younger guys like Houli, Ryder, Dempsey, Jetta and Lonergan and get rid of some of the older players like Watson, Stanton, Dyson, Winderlich and Laycock.

edit:yes i was taking the piss. should've put in the;)

You know what - why don't we just swap the seniors for the Bendigo Bombers.

Watson, Stanton, Dyson, Winders and Laycock are all 24 or younger.

Let me get this straight...

We should paly the younger guys, that are already playing.

And drop the older guys, that are young.

Got ya!

Dyson is a great example he is in out in out of team he should of been in our top 4 mids but lack of game time has showen him up. Pears and Myers look like they will be guns so i say Bombers don't stuff them up please.

We are playing kids.

If you want us to throw them all in then you will see us losing like we did yesterday, on a semi regular basis.

It's what carlton has done, thrown the kids in the deep end, and look at what has happened to them.

You just can't expect to be competitive OR provide the right environment for kids to learn, when you play too many of them.

Well get the mix right. What in two three season's on from now the younger players are going to learn off Watson Stanton and laycock don't think so, thats why we should get the time they need so they can learn off some of the great players we have in the team NOW Scottie, Mal, Lloyd and Flect. Were not Carlton mate and they went about it different to this.

We are playing kids, and I don't think there should be any changes this week except for DC. If you want to play 22 kids, fine I have no problem with that. But for **** sake if there going to play, they have to earn it. How many times have you seen Carlton play kids who havern't earnt it? Thats why I believe they've been down the past 6 or so years. And thats what sheedy lacked, the abillity to pick kids who have tried there guts out rather then pick his favourite who aren't half as interested as the kids.

I thought you were taking the piss at first as it just sounded like a stupid, ridiculous and dumb thing to say and i figured you just forgot the sarcasm smiley. But now knowing that you were actually serious, iv'e come to the conclusion that your ******

The team is vastly different to last year. Kids are getting game time. They are also learning plenty of the older blokes. Neagle and Gumbleton will be learning off Lloyd and Lucas. Pears, Myers will be learning off Fletcher and Michael. Peverill is out of the team. Soon JJ will go the same way. We are slowly eradicating the club of veterans that are sadly past it. Next 2-3 seasons the kids will be getting plenty of time.

Surely you are saying this in jest?

jeez you people are harsh, we lose one game to a rampid Geelong after smashing north by 10 goals, and all of a sudden we should play the kids to get some experience and virtually surrender the year like we did towards the end of last season.

We are a very good side on our day and are capable of making the 8.

We play our best side each week and if the younger players deserve to be in the side then so be it.

You cant just throw in younger players when they are not match-ready. Most of those guys have been playing Junior League before this year and havnt had a chance at senior football yet. Let them develop their bodies so that when tey do come in they are ready.

The best 22 play every week, if available. Age doesn't buy you a game, weather young or old.

The rest, develop, or simply play, in the VFL. It's a very simple, and proven recipe.

very early people- its only round 2...

Geelong were very, very good and we wont be the first team this year that lose to them by that kind of margin.

Yes, we missed targets at times but their pressure was awesome, we have improved a lot this year already but the scary thing is so have Geelong. We really were not that bad- they are just too good

We will be very competitive against most other sides this year and I think we will win more than we lose, Geelong is in a class of their own so lets not get too carried away with such a huge loss. We were never realistically a premiership chance this year or probably next however they are and will continue to get these results.

Not sure about the rest of you but i am bloody glad we dont play them again this year!

We are already playing the kids. The result of being patient can be seen in the Geelong side. When Frawley got sacked Bomber Thompson had a similar or worse record but Frank Costa had a clue that they needed pain before gain. 17 of Brisbanes 2001 Premiership side were there in 1998 when they finished bottom or close to it.

My two concerns yesterday were poor kicking for goal and not being able to curtail or slow Geelong down at all.

Guess what it's a new week next week beat Carlton and we are 2 wins 1 loss and the world is good again.

Play the Kids......

I thought we were..... Last time I read our starting lineup there were only 2 players over the age of 30.....

Why have we now just brought up this discussion again, it has only been a few months after we brought up a thread about this subject that was in an article from the Essendon FC website.

Who ever thinks that we aren't playing our youngsters are obviously ******

Houli, Dempsey, Lonergan, Winderlich, Watson, Jetta, Ryder, Davey, Slattery, Dyson, Nash, Stanton, Laycock..... just to name a few of them that we played yesterday against Geelong.

Tell me what these blokes have done, wouldn't it be better to see Myers, Hislop, Hocking and Reimers in the side. i want to see the bombers go forward but it just look like were going no where. Geelong game showed that were a long way away from the rest comp...

Just how old do you think Watson, Dyson and Slattery are ?
The same age guys like Corey, Enright, Ling, Wojynski, Mooney, Harley etc were five years ago when they were getting the same treatment. Where would Geelong be if they had have gone for your approach ?
Its a totally ridiculous argument

Besides Hislop and Hocking are injured at the moment.

Hocking is injured. Myers has had a minor injury. Hislop has been a bit behind in his pre season.
Its all well and good to say play the young blokes but they have to be fit enough to play.
