::NEWSFLASH::
Greater Western Sydney will reduce their list post 2014 season

I still think the squeeze starts now. As they add more first round picks, it'll push out other blokes who might be first rounders in their own right. For example Whitfield has come in this year, Greene has been pushed out to a HBF and Bugg has lost his place. And we haven't even seen O'Rourke yet.

It'll continue to happen as they accumulate first and second rounders, plus the possible signing of a marquee free agent.

Gumby+Crameri both in WB sights so...

  • Send them both off for Pick 3
  • Use Pick 3 + a player > upgrade to Pick 1
  • Boyd and Daniher lead us back to the Lloyd and Lucas promise land
  • Profit

So it's basically Gumbleton + Crameri + Bellchambers (probably the one GWS want) for pick 1? No. Besides, If we get pick 3 it's plausible that we get Boyd anyway, especially if GWS land Buddy. Melbourne have Hogan, Dawes and Clark so they won't need him, and pick 3 could very well be Boyd

You talking state league products or rival AFL clubs (namely GWS in this instance)?

There would have to be a few really young guys GWS took that, for one reason or another, haven't come on yet (like Toy at GWS but preferably someone that can still play).

If we managed to get our hands on pick 1 or 3 for that matter, James Aish would be the one I'd be looking at.

I have a feeling that if the bottom 2 stay the same, it'll be Aish #1, Scharenberg #2 and Boyd #3

Bear in mind that the real squeeze comes in 2015, until then they still have a list size of 50, which won't be standard afl size until 2019  ). The main squeeze you get this year is because they've just got so many high draft picks that will all be wanting to play senior footy, and they can't play all of them

This

The guys you'd be looking at would be the ones who you think you could develop or the ones who are guns already (Shiels, Treloar).

GWS
MELB
W.B

??

GWS have Patton and Cameron, and if they get Buddy they have a forward line set for 5 years, then Patton and Cameron will be in their prime, so they hardly need Boyd, hence taking Aish.
Melbourne have Clark, Hogan and Dawes for at least 5 years after this so they don't need another key forward, hence Scharenberg
Leaving pick 3 with Boyd

I've got it like that as well.

Aish and Scharenberg go 1-2 in whatever order (Buntine, Plowman and Tomlinson means GWS probably pass on Scharenberg), Boyd will go to whichever of the Saints or Dogs finish lower. Saints not without a show to push up into the #3 slot though, their draw is pretty difficult.

Oh boy, here comes the tanking accusations

(First post)
Developing Daniher into a 2nd ruckmen and maybe trade Gumbleton or Pears and TBC to GWS for a suitable draft such as small forward? Sign on Crameri and persist with Hurley as I think keeping Hurley forward with his explosive speed and a very damaging right and left foot. But maybe send him in the back line this year to get his confidence back.

i would go hard for colin sylvia in the off season elite outside mid good ball user thoughts

You taking the piss?

sylvia is the type of player who will flourish with an established core group of midfielders e.g. watson, hocking, howlett etc. If he was to come to essendon he would dominate on the outside/inside and will be unstoppable. imo.
we only have 1 genuine line breaker (dempsey) we need another.

he is a lazy prick has no defensive bone in his body

I went to High School with Sam Darley. He was amazing, he was playing seniors for his club at 16 and tearing it up each and every week in the midfield. Also grew up barracking for Essendon. However I wouldn't want him at Essendon, just another good ordinary footballer at AFL level and I don't see him becoming anything special. Has an ego the size of China and is his own biggest fan.

And as Yoda_ said, I would hope that if we had a very high draft pick, we would take Aish. Probably the best midfield talent in the draft and someone who I would LOVE at Essendon, has all the makings of an out and out star.
