I would go for it but doubt the Bulldogs would go for the offer. They lack outside midfielders ( McRae is still two years away ) and they wouldn't give up Griffen.
This is true - but they also lack a key position forward and most of their junior talent are midfielders. I guess apart from Cordy not much in the KPP stocks. Tom Boyd could fit that bill.
Having said that Griffen is a proven champion so I think you're right they probably wouldn't trade a ready made star for maybe/potential star.

What pick range is Billings going in? The small forward/outside mid we need in one.

Alternatively, Lennon or Bontempelli in round 1 and Kennedy-Harris or Garlett in round 2!

Although now that i've suggested it, it definitely won't happen. When was the last time Dodoro drafted who we wanted?? :p

Hurley and Melksham were rather popular. Heppell wasn't because nobody thought there was a chance in hell that we'd land him, same with Kav

More often than not it's someone we really don't expect though. Merrett and Steinberg, Van Unen and Gleeson come to mind where we just go what the hell??

I do agree, but am torn between improving the squad through trade and holding onto players 'just in case'.

Just on Thomas Boyd (the likely no.1 draft pick).

Do we need him? He is more a traditional full forward, would allow Joe Daniher to play CHF and Crameri as a 3rd tall, allowing Carlisle, Hooker and Hurley to play back in our ultimate side in a year or to.

IF WE MANAGED TO GET THE NO.1 DRAFT PICK

I would pick this kid Aish. Absolute Jet and would compliment our midfield/forward line to a tee.
Kelly or Aish would do nicely thanks...

Assuming that Collingwood is interested in T-Bell - The player that interests me is Paul Seedsman - hard running outside flanker who has raised his game to another level. I doubt that this will be achievable. Not interested in sidebottom as he is another slowish player.
Sidebottom is a gun, Seedsman is no better than Melksham..Good player but no gun..

And then who comes in to cover for those guys? The same positional guys.. Or your happy to just put guys in the AFL that have ready made bodies not the guys who will fill those positions?

Your obviously not comprehending what I am trying to say are you?

nope most of your stuff isn't making sense

Pretty easy to cover a sub position

Like for example lets say Jobe is stood down to play this week. Myers comes in off the sub to play the full game and a Jetta/Colyer come in as sub - pretty basic.

If a small forward gets injured then either Zacka spends more time forward or we pick Jetta who has a tonne of experience at AFL level as a small forward and done a job well enough in this position.

Or a small back gets injured. Goddard/Heppell/Winderlich play down back more and Colyer/Jett/Mertt cover the forward or mid position left ect

I am only interested in players who can fit a role in our best 22. Would rather Seedsman than Sidebottom.

He would waltz straight into our side ahead of everyone bar Jobe, Hepp, Goddard and Stants..I'm sure if you asked tjhe question on their board it would be 90% sidebottom, he is all class and a proven big game player....Seedsman is not even a regular yet, if they didn't have injuries doubt he'd even be in their best 22...Your crieteria to fill aroll is a bit strange, Jay Neagle could fill a roll with Ham and Cheese and god knows what else, Sidebottom as Ron Barrassi once famously said, "just get's the bloody ball"

So you have virtually answered one of my questions (bringing in mature players rather out lf form rather than form positional players).

I have been talking longer term, 2-3 years down the track.

(I'll use another 2nd/3rd player as an example)
Where do you see Alex Browne playing in the seniors if/when he returns?

Wouldn't agree with that. Seedsman has the potential to be a great player, similar to Goddard. He has good decision making and is an excellent kick. Won't get as much of the ball as Sidebottom but will be more damaging when he gets it.

So why did he use a 'slash' between them, instead of 'and' as indicated between Yarran and Gibbs. If we were to take this graphic seriously, we could just take the #1 ourselves, no need to involve other clubs.

Further to this, the diagram says to me we can just do pick 1 and 19 for Bellchambers and Hurley. It would then be up to us if we wanted to trade on either of those picks.

Silly idea regardless and as other posts have said, why don't we trade all our quality talls? King is a douche.

I think what yaco is saying is that Seedsman has something that the side needs which basically only Dempsey has (and you've seen some of the trouble we get into when Dempsey is injured) and he wouldn't cost anywhere near as much. Seedsman is an explosive, long kicking, half back/wingman and could be used to balance out our largely once paced midfield.

Sidebottom is clearly a better player, he is a total gun, but which top 15 player and maybe even first or at least second round pick are you prepared to give up to upgrade Melksham (with the gap between the two closing quite dramatically in the last month even if Melksham will never be a better player) and not do anything to aid one of the very few weaknesses on our list?

I think this is how you have to look at it. There are always better players out there but there isn't really value in chasing them (this is why Sydney's recruiting was so good, they only traded to address needs). If Collingwood thought they needed one of our our "depth" talls and, depending on which player it is, would accept something like an exchange of picks to Collingwood's advantage (say exchange our second for their third round or even our first for their second) for Seedsman we'd be crazy not to do it.
