I mean how well are essendon actually going in the VFL Yoda_ id like to see how players are comparing in stats terms and in visual terms (you might be able to help) in comparison of Alex Browne to guys like

K.Harper, George Horlin Smith (Geel), Hallahan (hawks), T.Davis (melb), T.Ledger (Stk)

as players in similar positions.

I know GHS probably has a much better side around him in the VFL in geelong, i dont followi the comp so id have to have a look, obviously harder to play in a worst off side and i know geelong won it last year didnt they

To be honest, my top 3 guys of our last 3 drafts would be E-Kav, Dalgleish & Browne (in no particular order). Every bloody time I watch the reserves Merret is never bloody playing!! &*%!

They seem to make things happen.

Going to go on Sunday and make the double header (VFL Bombers @ Windy Hill 1:00pm > AFL Bombers @ Etihad 4:40pm) so i'll watch NO'B with keen interest.

I might have egg on my face though, his stats alone make for some worthwhile reading. Browne's stats aren't quite as good, but on impact at games, seems worth more..

Thats pretty spot on currency IMO

but we cant afford to lose TBC, although if he wants out id take that deal pretty quickly.

Adams was pick 13 from memory in a pretty average side hes shown to improve from that ranking if anything and look a top 10 pick swap required for him, id take a semi proven AFL player over a completely unknown proven player that we could end up getting like a Moore, Cook ect but not many top 10 picks turn out to not make it anymore.

If we lost TBC wed have to go after another solid ruck, but their are plenty out there that can play VFL backup and step into AFL if needed as the number one ruck.

IMO we should be looking at guys like Hampson,Warnock, Currie, T.Campbell (just getting no chance) (Maybe even a Redden or Lobbe from port) i reckon they can only fit one of those guys in now, but we hardly give them better opportunities. It will be interesting to see how Geelong go with Blicavs, Simpson, HMAC, Vardy all fit and available. Who misses out might look elsewhere.

Would take Vardy. Hurley, Carlisle, Hooker back and JD, Vardy, Crameri forward. Good second forward and good second ruck. Right now Geelong seem to be keen to have Blicavs as their second ruck because he's just so bloody good around the ground, and Simpson is a monster ruck. Who would you part with though? They have no real deficiencies...

Getting Vardy just doesnt fill the void left by TBC

Id be targetting Simpson ahead of him. Hes at least a true number one ruck and his form against freo was quite impressive given the main duties for the first time this season.

You wouldnt want Vardy as number one and hes as injury prone as hell, geelong rate him highly and wouldnt let him go unless he wanted out.

The only guys on our list that we can afford to let go and that hold any sort of weight would be Gumbleton, Jetta, Pears IMO

Podsiadlly is getting on isnt he, id be scared of what Gumby could do at geelong in a very good side.

Lonergan isnt going to be around forever either, Rivers is an old man. Pears could fit in somewhere but for me he doesnt have enough currency really just yet he needs to prove so much more this season and if that happened id say the club would be looking to keep him.

3 way trade possibly

I can honestly see them going with a Simpson/Blicavs ruck pairing. Maybe we could go after Trent West?

I think none of these players are going anywhere. We need to calm down. Essendon will most likely just draft a mid with their first pick. Bellchambers has still played nearly 90% of our games and carried the ruck division while Ryder was out. Pears has obviously been given this period of weaker teams to see if he can cement his spot back in the side. Jetta and Colyer are probably the only players that will be looking elsewhere for opportunity.

I think Gumby and Pears are happy to work their way back into the side.

He would waltz straight into our side ahead of everyone bar Jobe, Hepp, Goddard and Stants..I'm sure if you asked tjhe question on their board it would be 90% sidebottom, he is all class and a proven big game player....Seedsman is not even a regular yet, if they didn't have injuries doubt he'd even be in their best 22...Your crieteria to fill aroll is a bit strange, Jay Neagle could fill a roll with Ham and Cheese and god knows what else, Sidebottom as Ron Barrassi once famously said, "just get's the bloody ball"

There is nothing wrong with my criteria. Go on the Collingwood board and put up the suggestion - Think you'll find supporters would be happier giving up Sidebottom.

And Sidebottom skill set is not needed at EFC.

what tripe'd he come up with this week?

GWS are into him in a big way (of course, so they should be). I think we could easily get overs for TBC from GWS.

What if a deal like:

Adams + 10 for Bellchambers and Pears came around? Would you take it?

On the surface you go, bang, fantastic deal. But...

Do you basically destroy our KPP depth for 2 midfielders (there is no tall that suits us that looks like being worth it at pick 10)

it comes down to whether you'd be happy with having a ruck corps of Ryder and Gumbleton, and then a crap shoot on whether we land a suitable mature aged replacement later on in the draft or through trade.

If we draft Sikora/trade for Hannath or Currie with a late pick. Then it becomes a really good deal and one that we really have to consider.

I wouldnt want him leaving for anything less then a top 5 pick

Id still like to see him take the sole ruck without Ryder again later in the season whetehr that be injury, rest or suspension to ryder (hope rest). See how he goes. When Ryder was out for 3 weeks he really need to make that sole ruck position his.

He isnt worth the number one pick thats for sure - not many players are.

Hawks gain: Taylor Adams
Hawks lose: first round pick 20 + (Maybe something else) lets assume buddy is also going albeit other way

Ess lose: TBC + Pick 16 (first round)
Ess gain: number 1 pick

GWS lose: Adams and pick 1
Gain: TBC, pick 16, pick 20 (and maybe something thrown in) + buddy as we assume

Or

North gain: Taylor Adams
North lose: first round pick 10 + D.Currie

Ess lose: TBC + Pick 16 (first round)
Ess gain: number 1 pick + D.Currie

GWS lose: Adams and pick 1
Gain: TBC, pick 16, pick 10

Well i would welcome his skill set but a part of me would always despise him or Seedsman because the played for the filth, so let's hope we get neither and give em nothing....We don't want to help improve them or Carlscum.

Strange that with all the media crap going on with the side and players going to be sanctioned the trade talk about Gumby continues. Not too sure clubs will really be lining up with offers until after the ASADA findings and no real talk about that in their trade "news".

There are lots of options for that back-up ruck. Maybe we try to get Campbell from the dogs. I can honestly see us getting him. Or Orren Stephenson from the Tigers. Jarrad Redden from Port is another option.

Hate to do the "I said last year thing" but

I said last year we really should look at Hannath. He missed out in his initial draft years, then went back to Centrals and worked his ass off improving both his ruck craft and around the ground work. He was always going to be a very low draft pick if taken but had shown the attributes to at minimum be a quality depth ruckman.

I haven't watched enough SANFL this season to determine if there are any young rucks that are worth a look with a late pick or PSD pick.

Pears & delist/delisted should not be in the same sentence. He'll get a 2 year deal come seasons end.

Couldn't see Hannath leaving free as he is on a two year contract and has played a few afl games this year. Currie on the other hand is looking for opportunities but doesn't that leave him in the same position at Norf? Behind the number 1 ruck

What do people think of Sikora I haven't seen him play nor he doesn't look like to be getting a game lately..? Read an article saying he has been doing work with hille or Ryder.
What other state league ruckman could fill that "3rd ruck" spot

Don not want, wears a long sleeve
