The problem with Myers the midfielder is he doesn't compliment Jobe so he is only going to be a second stringer for a few years yet. If it's a choice between him and Montagna its a no contest, Joey would make us better, it just leaves a bit of an age gap on the list but FA makes this less of an issue than it used to be.

That's what I was driving at. Freo may need a bit more convincing to drop their first by 10 picks, maybe the dogs and them even it out with swaps of later picks.

Unlikely scenario, but probably fair.

The draft is pretty weak. The difference between a late first round pick with an early second round pick isn't that much.

I think Myers will be AA in two years. He will be getting his own ball and hammering 70 meter goals week in week out. So yeah, i don't agree

I'm surprised so many are willing to consider trading Myers. Would not even consider Myers for Montagna even as a straight swap. Myers showed a hell of a lot this year and is just coming into his prime. He has an absolutely massive boot which is becoming a major weapon for us, the long bomb goals and the general zone breaking plus this was just his first season where he finally stayed fit, I still think he will develop into a major clearance winning midfielder with a big kick. He has what it takes to be a difference maker.

Montagna is pretty much at the end and I doubt he has 3 years left and even if he does I'm not even sure they will all be better than what Myers would produce. The only way I would do the trade is if Myers wanted out.

hink it's a perfectly good argument wanting to keep a player who has 5 years of his best footy ahead of him.
I wouldn't trade Myers for him.

Also, I think Jobe needs needs help on the inside, Stanton, Zaka, Heppell, Goddard even Dmepsey... We have plenty of outside mids/flankers who can run and carry. Myers has great value if we can turn him into a David Mundy type

Thank the ******* Lord that you're not our list manager then. Brisbane did that under Voss and look where that put them? Top 8 side looking good for top 4 in a few years to bottom 4 side. There's this thing called "chemistry" that is an invaluable tool to winning a flag. Getting one or two players in a year is fine, but swapping half a side for perceived "upgrades" is just plain stupid

This Myers argument is just incredibly circular. Arguing whether we would trade him is meaningless. Arguing whether we need to trade him to get the deal done would make sense.

I would suggest packaging the whole Crameri trade, whatever it ends up being, to Freo with Gumby for their first would be enough to secure Joey. It's a 6-8 pick downgrade in the 20s for a starting CHF and whatever other later picks there are involved. That would fit St Kilda's bill better than Myers (same draft as McEvoy...)

Picks 3, 17, 18 and 19 would be their desires result.

Anyway EFC's priority should be the Crameri deal.

I hate montagna, do not want even though he is a player we need.

Bomber Thompson has a history of developing his own, I can't see us trading Meyers for joey.

David had a consistent year this year, is big bodied, can break a tackle, can tag, can kick big long goals which is critical amongst the zone defences.

Joey can run, but I don't recall him being a big game player when usually there is no space to run.
