So Hooker, Fletcher, Hurley and Carlisle all in the back 6 at once.

Excellent.

Get rid of Fletcher. His form isn't what it was in 2012. It is absolutely stupid to think that we could lose guy who could very well be a best 22 player to keep Fletcher around for another year.

Why thank you, question though - how much do you think I care about what your opinion of me is?

Gumbleton has one of the highest goal/game ratio's on our list, this despite being played in the wet far too often.

He's one of the best contested marks we have and he has an exceptional endurance base for a key forward.

Couldn't care less if you disagree, Ben the Gooner does and we get along just fine.

Word of advice though, if you intend to hang around these parts I'd strongly suggest you refrain from telling people they know 'sweet f/a' - makes you look like a whiny child and honestly you won't last very long here.

Whack....

I can't believe it. White just played a finals campaign and looked like he belonged and you think we're just as likely to find someone of that quality in the state leagues. White was hopeless but as is the case for most players, especially the biggers guys, he has improved dramatically.

White is definitely a better player but he doesn't play like a key forward more like an oversized flanker.

Sure.

Fletcher doesn't have to be pigeon holed as a key defender, and we've successfully played Carlisle, Pears and Hooker together previously - and Hurley is an upgrade on Pears IMO.

We still also have Hibberd, Dempsey and Baguley filling roles in the side.

I agree with Jade to an extent. Hurley-Carlisle-Hooker is a stuff of dreams in defence, but we also want the flexibility of a KPF who can go into defence if we need a game winner (one of Hurley/Carlisle). Also someone a bit more mobile than Gumby when it hits the deck. Brent Staker is the one that springs to mind, or wait a year and move heaven and earth to get Ben Reid next season

Sorry eth but can we please end this rubbish relating to the free agency lists of the future. The 2014 free agency list is a meaningless list until August 2014.

well what would we have to give up to get White? our first pick in this draft probably?

I'm not prepared to give that up for McKernan or White

Fletch has re-signed with us. So he will be playing. And we don't get rid of champions who are still playing good footy.

I didn't know he was a FA next season, I just knew he was out of contract

No, but I don't see the point in playing them all there. Will reduce our run out of the backline considerably and there will be several occasions when we have mismatches.

Sounds bogus but it would be a great trade just because it would shut up all those dogs supporters who are acting like they're being charitable by offering pick 22 in exchange for Crameri.

It's a hard 1, not sure bout this if it went through? Would probably still perfer trading both of those for 2 genuine players back in, but also then again that pick #2 would be pretty handy considering if Boyd goes #1 we could get Aish or Billings at #2?? But still hesitant....

Not necessarily, we've played 3 talls in defence all year just not necessarily the same composition.
Either in 2014 or 2015 my preferential 3 talls in defence would be Hurley-Carlisle-Hooker. I agree that I probably wouldn't play 4 talls in defence but you've gotta remember that Fletch can play either tall or small.

I don't think it makes sense to play both Hurley and Carlisle at the same end of the ground because Hooker is an excellent CHB and we have quality third tall defenders in Fletcher and Pears. So I suggest we either play Hurley at FB and Carlisle at CHF or vice versa.

That Hurley and Carlisle are both swingmen is where the similarities end.

Hurley is a much better match up for leading forwards than Carlisle is. As good as Hurley is body on body, Carlisle is even better standing toe to toe with giants and beating them.

As KPDs they compliment each other beautifully (especially when they are getting support from Hooker).

That we are going down the path we are going down suggests that we have much more faith in Pears than his form suggests is warranted or Gregory is much closer to being a viable option than we realise (and Fletcher is the stop gap that for the 12 months Gregory needs).

Sure, and on those several occasions we have a player in the VFL and pick our team accordingly. Fletch wouldn't play more than 15 games (IMO), and I'd love the ability to manage our side leading into September by selectively resting/rotating our backs.

Plus the highly flexible option of leaving Daniher or Gumbleton out and laying Carlisle or Hurley forward.

I'm not sure why people feel that we should only hold on to those players that are locks every week. We need some depth. I say trade Pears, not Gumbleton (where we have little to no depth), and manage our side.

So who plays fwd then? Gumby and the resting ruck plus JD? That's a big gamble. Not that Hurley isn't a gamble up fwd with his injures as well. Fact is, no fwd line will look crash hot next year. Until Chappy turns up that is ;)

I don't want Gumby to leave but he should given how he was handled this season.

Fletch could play small, now he struggles to play small. He is a tall and does his best work on talls. Plus your smalls are the ones who usually generat run out of the backline. It simply is not a balanced back 6.

2 for Shaw, 10 and 11 please.

My preference is to play Daniher and Gumbleton together, Hurley back with Carlisle and Pears out of the side.

Gumby is still the best natural forward on our list. Madness to let him go IMO.

haha, what? still dont know if your being sarcastic

I dont know and dont care, because he's not going to come here to be depth, but he has to be one of the top few targets for clubs who want a third tall forward/ruck.
