If we get pick 54 for Gumby well that's just yuck...

Not worth much more than Mitchie flat out, he was around that mark. Still hope we can get Freo's 2nd rounder for our 3rd. Doesn't seem much but it is better.

FFS Adrian, just get the Crameri deal done. Seems we have slipped back to the bad old days of being a joke at the trade table

I think if we land a Shaw/NDS type as well as Chappy then there won't be much pie for Myers next year. Shrewd work by Colin Young, but it's hindering our trading plan I imagine.

On another note, I read something yesterday about us being interested in Ricky Henderson. I'd swap 22 for him in a heartbeat.

Where would you be playing him Ben?

Would he be a like for like swap with Crameri or would he play as rebounding HBF or a 3rd tall/rebounding half back flank.

I watched a few of his games at his best this season and he was used as a 3rd tall/rebounding back flanker.

Us picking him up would almost instantly mean a move for Pears hed go behind Fletcher and Henderson. It would also be interesting because if we did pick him up my best back 6 would be Carlisle/Hurley, Hooker, Hibberd, Dempsey, Henderson, Fletcher/Baguley. It could mean Fletcher is no longer considered best 6 in my backline with where hes at.

We could use him forward i believe hes kicked a few bags before but i dont think thats his best position however hed be a like for like replacement for Crameri and it wouldnt be a big loss especially if we can still snare Chapman.

Really??

I would have thought that with his output over the last few seasons that this was his draft range. Unfortunatly for us, he doesn't really have a lot ti hang his hat on that would raise his value for us too much.

absolutely, precedent for talls has been set. Gumby has shown more than enough when he had a consistent run at it this year

I assume Adrian is waiting for 1400 tomorrow, than the announcement of what compensation picks Hawthorn, Collingwood, Melbourne, Carlton and Richmond receive.

As are a lot of people.

Apparently Hawthorn and St.Kilda will swap the buddy compo for the saint's pick 21 as part of the McEvoy deal.

Collingwood could possibly swing something with the Thomas compo as well. And then there's the Dal Santo situation.

The compo picks are the backlog here

if the AFL did it probably.. you could basically sell TV rights to cover the trade weekend.. have live interviews etc etc.. if all trades (around 20-25 each year) were done in one weekend.. then there would be something happening every hour.. it becomes watchable almost..

I think it would have merit.. you could combine it with 'draft profiles' and all sorts of stuff.. make it interactive.. (like they have tried to do with the trade hub stuff)..
I'd watch that, except they'd probably give it to Fox... then I'd have to pander to various people for an online hook-up. PM me if you can hook me up for next year, btw.

Or just do a 30-minute show at the end of each trade day over a 7-10 day period covering everything that had happened that day including interviews etc. Would work I'd say.

Who cares how long it goes for, FFS, 2 years ago it was 1 week and everyone said it wasn't enough time to get deals done...

Personally i reckon they should get rid of the trade period all together and just say all trades must be finished by 2pm on the 23rd October. ie just have a deadline no actual time frame.

I think swanny the Carlton maggot summed it up well today it's like any assignment

According to Fairfax and News Limited, we're competing with St Kilda for Billy Longer.

Surprising to say the least.

Potentially a very good get, maybe develop either him or Bellchambers into a stay at home forward to work with Daniher?

I actually heard what he said and it was part of the reason I said what I did. I don't know what the big deal is.

However Ive had a slight rethink, and I reckon the trade deadline should be at the end of Round 17, so teams can trade whenever they want except when it's getting close to finals and during finals.

Then we wouldn't have any issues with people saying it too long or too short because you can just do it when it suits.

How? We don't have a young ruckman.

Bellchambers and Ryder aren't exactly old though.

I'm more surprised because I think teams like Hawthorn and St Kilda could use him a lot more than us. I'll be surprised if he does nominate us.
