I actually put Bales market value at £40m. Depending on who gets involved, we could end up getting £50 or £60m for him if he left. He is hot properry if you hadnt noticed already.

Lets take Krancjar as an example again. His recent perfomnces 4 Croatia mean that he is above the £5m Embers has stated. His record in the premiership means he is worth a couple of more million. Then I boost his market value by taking into account we are talking about Harry and Levy doing the selling here. That's worth another two million. The fact that he cant get into a spurs midfield packed with talent also does not harm his market value. £10m.

So if I had 3 houses on the same street, I go back and forth between two of them but have rarely walked inside the 3rd one. You as the buyer know this as a fact. I dont use the 3rd house that much if ever and dont really need it. That mindset wouldnt change your thoughts on the bidding process whatsoever?

The only way you can judge it is on how much demand there wll be for Krancjar. you have to know a bit about the player and a little bit more about clubs that would be interested in him. I will admit though, the fact he has come in and done a job for us lately hs helped his cause.

Just try to remembr, dont try to equate football economics with anything else. Complete waste of time. You dont buy a football club to make stax of cash.

You also can't ignore what a buyer is willing to pay.

I personally try and relate it to a figure that I believe to be his true worth taking into account most of the other transfers for similar players.

Yeah players can have sooks, but history tells us when players are contracted the seling club will usually gets its price - which to you lot means above market price. Thats what I based my initial vlauations on, cos as I stated our players are contractd.

Yes but you think Woodgate is worth 8m. A simple risk and return calculation would rule out every club from signing him at that price. The scope for error is massive which is why I believe he has no value. Clubs might only take him on if it was for free.

Its not a buyer or a sellers market. Its a services market where the provider (player) determines his or her value through form/actions/situation amongst other things. Players determine everything nowadays. If Torres didnt hand in a transfer request are Liverpool selling him for 50 mill?

In most services markets however the buyer has a higher sense of control than the seller. Hence why US sports are always strike, hence why in the opposite of US sport (ie. the real world) services such as nursing, teaching etc go so underpaid
