Bee-Whether the saints have spent over the salary cap or whether the players are duds or not is a matter of pure speculation. As to whether we are a shit side or not we will wait and see what happens during the season, again purely subjective. Here are a couple of facts, carlton are salary cap cheats and Aaron Hamill will be playing with the saints. Surely you must be annoyed that the carlton administration paid Kouta so much that they left no room in the cap for Hamill. It really will be an interesting game at optus this year, I look forward to hearing the chorus of abuse directed at Hamill as he kicks each one of his 8 goals. He wouldn't want to be as thin skinned as you seem to think he is. If he is he will be roasted alive.

The problem with you saints supporters is you don't know what success is. You get someone like Hamill and think you have the greatest player in the league. If he was that good Carlton would not have let him go. They would have offered him what he wanted, if they thought he was worth it, obviously they didn't! Carlton keep what they want to keep!

Bee-Since you have let down your veil of arrogance by pointing out that you and other blues supporters are genuinely upset by the hamill defection, I will cease with my carlton bashing. I too have felt the pain and hurt of losing favorite players like val perovic, russell green and tony lockett. It's been said before but the only true loyalty in football is displayed by the fans.
It doesn't upset me that he has gone.(Well it did at first). What upsets me is the way he did it, his lack of truth and the people he let down to do it.

Russell Greene?????????? As i recall Stkilda shafted him!!!!!!!!!!!!!He was picked to play for you on the Thursday and shipped off to Hawthorn because the Saints thought they were getting the better deal. Picked up a couple of duds in return. Dont blame Greene for that!!! Hawks were the winners for it.
Aaron has said in an interview that money did play a small part in why he left but it was not the sole issue. I think all Carlton supporters need to move on and look forward to the up coming season. I think Aaron did the best thing for himself and in the end that is what counts. It doesnt matter who the player is us supporters only follow them on field we should remember that they dont owe us anything. It is their life that will change not ours.

At the time, I was very dirty when Peter Mann left North to go back home to Freo. Hindsight says that we didn't lose in the end, but at the time, it looked as if he would blossom to become a great player for us.
Also, I'm wondering if any longtime Melbourne fans have any comments to make about Stan Alves and Greg Wells leaving the Demons to play in premiership sides (which they did with North Melbourne and Carlton respectively). Taking a hypothetical here, if the Saints don't perform under Blight, would any Saints fans hold it against the likes of Burke or Harvey if they left Moorabbin to try and play in a premiership for a club like Carlton or Essendon?

well dont get me wrong i have nothing against Sydney but Tingay leaving us was such a heart break. although the whole story was different coz we delisted him and he went with a club that gave him the chance.. i am positive all the melbourne supporters will and do miss him dearly.
now about jeff white... we might stole him from Fremantle but really all we did is offer him more money, its not like we tied him down and put a gun to his head... he did it coz he saw an oppertunity that fremantle couldnt give him. we might have won the wooden spoon in 97 but we are the oldest club in the comp. and we go back long before fremantle... winning more gf's and having a much more impressive line of players- past and present.

Melbourne supporters would not have to much of a problem with Greg Wells or Stan Alves leaving for more success. These blokes didn't and wouldn't have played finals unless they moved to North or Carlton as Wells did. Good on them for getting success. Their hearts would have beaten true for the red and the blue but they had to do it. In looking back I am amazed Robbie Flower didn't leave either.
