Players from other teams you can't help but love and hate

I always had some love for villians: Milne, Steve Johnson, Barry Hall and the likes.

Not a lot around atm. Perhaps Toby Greene.

Has become regular now, but I have a dislike for star players winning premierships after changing clubs and getting big money contracts...

The reason for the dislike of Daicos is the way the commentators almost genuflect every time he touches the ball. A 2 metre handball while under no pressure and the commentators will be saying "the genius of Daicos being displayed again he is on a completely different level". It is the same reason a lot of people hated Cyril Rioli.

Why name people without any reasoning? Feels odd

Love

Noah Anderson - From the first day he joined he decided he wanted to put the club on his back and he has done nothing but that. Leads the way and did so at such a young age. He came prepared for anything at a place where so few were prepared for it.

Callum Wilkie - Came from a long way back in his career and has basically carved out a role for himself no coach or recruiter saw for him. He is one of the first full backs who has played 100% of the game but then truly wanted to run and do more then that lockdown role. If he wasnt at Saints, he would be much more appreciated

Sam Darcy - Out of all the nepo babies we have seen in recent times, he impresses me the most both on and off the field. Luke Darcy is clearly a great father whose taught him well. With his build Sam shouldnt have reached these levels til like year 5 in his career but very quickly he has grown into the game and become one of the best KPF around. I do enjoy the honesty Luke had in stepping down from the media to put Sam first.. Truly commendable

Hate

Nick Watson - A big dislike I have is young players who havnt earnt the right to showboat being a showboat. Its not confidence or arrogance, its kind of a lack of respect in a weird way. When a young player carries on like a pork chop it reflects poorly on the club leaders almost who are not I guess tempering him back. Nick needs to do more then he does to play the way that he does. Earn your respect, dont just expect it cos you were a top 5 pick

Brayden Maynard - Just think the carry on about that 2018 moment makes him a sore loser and disrespectful. You didnt win the game. Admit it and move on. Outside of that one incident I think he complains to the umpires constantly. I think he gets away with it whereas others wouldnt. If you create 100 dissent free kicks, the umpires wont pay all 100 if that makes sense...

Cameron Zurhaar - To me he held the club to ransom when he had not deserved that right. He is a average player, he doesnt put in 100% effort, he isnt really a leader. He has all of that but was demanding the clubs performances get better before he signed back on. If he was putting in 100% effort then sure, ask it of others, but asking for something you do not give yourself to eek out more money from your team is not something im a fan of

It's so true. Used to happen with Hird a lot.

The genius of Hird, yep, he hit a stationary target from 30m under slight pressure.

All fair points. Good even.

Will acknowledge Zurhaar statement to be less true in 2025 than it were in 2024. He's had a better year, more complete (for him) this season bordering on paying his way.

We'd need to find another shenanigans leader if were to rid ourselves of this often-paycheck Footballer.

Honestly don’t get the hate for Nick Daicos.

Brilliant player, fair player, seems pretty humble and a good bloke from appearances in media.

Is it the publicity he gets? Excellent player at biggest club in the league, son of a club legend?
And it is not Nick's fault that the media have gassed him up so much.

I reckon he would rather not have the attention.

Love: Jeremy Cameron , Toby Greene , Willem Drew , Chad Warner , Tom Papley , most bulldogs , Tom Stewart
Hate: Lachie Neale , Dayne Zorko , Zach Merrett , Tom Lynch , Rory Lobb

Really good point, same as the post game media coverage

Love - Libba, Bont, Butters, Breust, H. McKay, Fogarty, Warlord, Melksham, Z. Bailey and coming around to Isaac Rankine.

Hate - Zorko is a pig of a human, Butthead from Melbourne, Dom Sheed , Stringer, Scott Lucas and Essendon.

Love - Jeremy Cameron, Josh Treacy, Riley Thilthorpe - I have a soft spot for big blokes who crash packs and kick goals.

Hate - just about anyone who plays in brown and gold at the moment. Special mentions to Jai Newcombe and Nick Watson who are just about the most unlikeable players in the comp.

Bont, Toby Greene, Neale, Libber, Pendles Butters.

Rozee & Heeney ooze smugness.

Milne was hated for his off field crimes. Subhuman scum.

Hirds best was the best. He wasn't always at his best, but they had to say something about him.

Lazy commentators have their tag lines, eg basketball background, Fish Creek, silky skills and apply them reflexively. A lot of commentary is just brainrot at this point.

I used to hate Toby Greene but he's grown on me and I find myself cheering for him now (except when we're playing the Orange team).
