Interesting. Really making the kids earn the low numbers. We have 3 vacant numbers in 1-20, and then fill every number 21-48.

I would have thought if Broad hadn't created the wrong headlines post-premiership, he might have got an upgrade.

#13 doesn't have a great recent record at Richmond, and #19 has been downright terrible - the last decent player we probably had was Greg Strachan - interestingly, Peter Wilson played his first year as #5 for us, and then took over #19 when Strachan retired. He only lasted 2 more years with us - and then took #9 at the Eagles. Maybe had a thing for 9s.

Only thing Willo had a thing for was himself! :D:D:D

I do this every year and almost, always never get it right. Especially since Dimma brang in the “earn your stripes” campaign a few years back.
But for a bit of fun. What are your predicted jumper number allocations/changes for season 2018?

7. Dan Butler (Switched from 40)
11. Nathan Broad (Switched from 35)
19. Jack Graham (Switched from 34)
20. Ivan Soldo (Switched from 47)
28. Jason Castagna (Switched from 46)
34. Jack Higgins
35. Patrick Naish
38. Noah Balta
40. Callum Coleman-Jones
43. Ben Miller
45. Liam Baker
You weren’t far off young fella.

Just me, but if I played in an AFL premiership, I would keep that number, regardless of whether it was 1, 7, 34, 40, 46, or 62.
Each to their own I suppose.
Far too much emphasis on just a number.

Yep agree completely, 40 and 46 are their numbers.... They're actually really good, unique numbers for footy. I know dimma doesn't like the high numbers for senior players but always appreciated axl for not parting with his 41.

Apart from the great man Francis Bourke, Richo, Graeme Landy and Jimmy Jess, my favourite AFL player has been John Platten (as I am a huge Central Districts fan) and will always associate 44 with him and love that number (and play it in Keno and Tattslotto).
Also a unique number with plenty of stars having worn in it in Platts, Justin Madden, Nigel Lappin, Richard Osborne, Corey Enright and Daryl Freame (well not so much).
I played a lot of senior footy at different clubs in two states (as I moved with work a fair bit) and I was just happy to play in the jumper they gave me. I wore numbers 1, 5, 15, 27, but also wore 34, 46 and 47. I never understood the fascination with some blokes and numbers. At one club, I was asked to give up 15 so they could give it to a prospective recruit (and an ordinary footballer to boot) as he pretty much demanded the jumper. Pffft!

Does anyone know if all players were offered an upgarde and only Graham wanted to stay with #34?

No shame in #34 .... servicable number in Tigers history.
Former captain Jeff Hogg, Graeme Landy one of the top half back flankers in the league in the early to mid-80s, Francis Jackson (albeit he made a name for himself at South Melbourne) and now Graham a premiership player ... oh and Ewan Thompson, Andrew Mills, MadTiger's next big thing Cleve Hughes and Simon Fletcher.
#34 is Graham's.

#41 is a bit of a Tiger favorite. Foley - legend, Scotty Turner - legend, Royce Vardy - leg...... well, he was OK.

Only 3 players in our history have ever worn jumper number 40 or above and played 100+ games - Foley, Turner and Billy Brown - sorry, I mean dual premiership player Billy Brown.

Just for a bit of fun - our leading players per number:

1 - Mark Lee - (Chris Newman played about 4-5 seasons in #17)
2 - Darren Gaspar
2 - Weightman
4 - Rogers (due to Royce's knees)
5 - Vic Thorp - (probably. Numbers were a bit fluid back then)
6 - Mark Chaffee (Grigg will pass him next year)
7 - Mick Malthouse
8 - Jaaaack
9 - Wayne Campbell
10 - Sheeds - Sheds is closing (2 more years)
11 - Joel Bowden (Dad Mike and brother Sean also wore 11)
12 - Skinny Titus (Richardsons win on family total)
13 - Joe Murdoch (that's 2-time premiership player Joe Murdoch to you)
14 - Max Oppy (Bachar a couple of years away)
15 - Des Rowe (2xtime B&F, Victorian Captain, Tigers Coach)
16 - Keven O'Neill (Brian Wood played the same numbers of Richmond games, but had a couple of seasons in #37)
17 - The Captain
18 - Rance (just passed Merv Keane, who played his first few years in #40)
19 - Greg Strachan
20 - The Ghost Jimmy Jess
21 - Tucky
22 - Leo Merrett (Premiership player, 2xB&F)
23 - Daniel Jackson
24 - Ray Poulter
25 - The CEO
26 - Col Saddington (sorry - I got nothing)
27 - Ian Hull (Ditto)
28 - Ted Langridge (in a bit of a dead spot here)
29 - KB
30 - St Francis
31 - Leo Maguire (premiership player 1943) - this is the lowest number without a 100-gamer (Maguire played 96 and Chris Hyde 93)
32 - Tivvers!
33 - Knights (Matthew, not Chris - if you had to be told, consider yourself told)
34 - Jeff Hogg
35 - Michael Pickering (True - and Matty White is next)
36 - Ty Zantuck (What?!?!?)
37 - Michael Green (Legend)
38 - Morris - 1st Kevin (110 games), 3rd, Steven (83), and 2nd is totally unrelated Peter (88). How's that for cool?
39 - Andy Kellaway
40 - Billy Brown
41 - Foley
.
.
.
.
After that, no one has played more than 55 games in any number (David Hunybun in #42).

Awaiting corrections and clarifications from far more accurate stat-merchants than me (I'm not looking at any Ron the Bear posts:cool::cool::cool:).

Did you part with it and was there a pre game presentation.......man hugs and arse slaps?

I parted with it. Given I wore it twice there was no sentimental attachment to it ...... but I should have kept it. The guy who wanted it was a dud and lasted only one and a bit seasons before heading back to his former club.
