Thought i would drag up this old chestnut again ...... been a while since we stirred up those hawks .

Personally speaking , i think that the job TW has been doing both in his coaching capacity and his self appointed role as master media manipulator have been absolutely A1 - first class .

I ask you ..... Can anyone remember such a succession of positive articles and interviews about the RFC in living memory ? Terry`s time in the media has obviously taught him well and he is very familiar with the beast and knows exactly how manipulate it .

After a completely disasterous 3 years , where the players confidence has been eroded to an all time low , plough has set about the job of making the players believing again in themselves magnificently , hell , he has even got half of us beleiving we can make the finals .

......... all of this got me to thinking about the hawkers and the debate we had raging over our respective coaching appointments . How do people rate how TW is going as opposed to Alistair Clarkson ? About all i have heard from him in the last 3 months is how he nearly had a punch on with old Georgie Stone ...... LMAO .

I know it is only early days , and there hasn`t been a shot fired in anger yet but , i know who i rate as having been active in doing everything possible for the betterment of thier club .... and it aint Clarkson .

Clarkson might turn out to be a very good coach, but we made the right choice for our club given the position we were in. We certainly needed some positive media coverage Wallace has been impressive in that area. I'm sure it has helped with impressive membership numbers so far and I reckon it would also help with the player's confidence coming off such a poor season when they would have read so many negative reports on themselves in the media.

I was talking to one of the Hawthorn players' girlfriend today (She does part time work at my office). She reckons that Clarkson is training them very hard and is very strict but the platers absolutely love him. He may be better than many people think.

I think that Clarkson could be a real suprise packet (Sorry IDGAF, I know you want to stir them up but hopefully we do it out on the G this year).

But i think the succession of positive articles comming from Wallaces' media savvy is what we need on top of a good coach.

Frawley was such a buffoon in performance and print that we couldnt afford to have someone like Clarkson who is probably going to be Pagan like (getting results minus the charisma)

Someone posted a funny thread on the main board about Clarkson using the word cherry ripe. Thats not going to be relevant to what success he has, But we have been so Dudded by the Spud that we need someone to really purge the Bumpkin association from our main job.

Who knows who the best coaches will be until the season gets underway - but we absolutely had to have had a high profile communicator, 5 years of Danny depressed memebrs and players alike

Clarkson was nothing short of a THUG on the field who achieved nothing but smashing Ian Aitkens face in in a cowardly king hit from behind.

Nothing's changed and his approach so far has been questionable. He may prove me wrong but I doubt it.

He's said for a long time that he will use the wizard cup as a final judgement which makes perfect sense to me. As I see it there are a few candidates that can't be split at the moment, the wizard cup should show him who is the best. I'm surprised Clarkson didn't wait as well, neither he nor TW have seen their players in a proper match yet so they can't have the full picture.

So far I think it's worked for both teams. Although Hawthorn spoke to both Eade and Wallace I think they (selection committee) we more than happy to go for somebody 'outside'. Since Yabbie Jeans retired in 1990, all proceeding coaches were inhouse - Joyce, Knights, Judge, Schwab. Richmond, like a few have said, nneded an experienced coach or the members would have their heads. Who's best? You'll struggle to find a Richmond supporter who say Clarkson just like you'll struggle to find a Hawthorn one that says Wallace.
