Draft Expert PMBangers 2025 Draft Thread

The 2021 Draft has only really started being viewed as a potential “super draft” this year. After their first seasons, players like Sam Darcy spent most of their time in the VFL, Callaghan has only truly found his form in 2024, and Jason Horne-Francis showed flashes early on but hadn’t fully arrived — much like Lalor now. Similarly, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera didn’t have a huge impact in his debut season either. Comparing the 2021 and 2024 drafts highlights how development takes time — not everything clicks in the first year.
The 2021 draft was considered a super draft even in 2020. Players like Sinn and Sonsie were talked about being top3 picks.

Daicos was talked up as a top 3 pick well before 2021

My point was that after their first or second year, it was too early to label it a “super draft” based on player performance and stats at the time. In the same way, it’s far too early to judge the 2024 draft as a poor one after just a single season. A player’s first year shouldn’t carry too much weight when assessing the long-term strength of a draft class.

interesting to see how much it changed over the next 12 months.

A lot of names I dont even remember being discussed in the lead up to the draft are in this write up and a number of the consensus high picks come draft night arent mentioned at all.

Thoughts on young kellaway and when he will likely be bid on?
Like him, doesn't have any one stabdout trait or 'wow' factor but does the fundamentals to an AFL Level, would say he's in play from 30 onwards at this stage

Duursma a lock for #1
Round 17 of the Coates Talent League showcased five fantastic games, where the future stars of the AFL faced off against each other.
The brother of Adelaide’s Lachie Murphy - Sebastian Murphy - was the standout performer of the round for the Northern Knights, laying a game-high 9 tackles and delivering a game-high 9 inside 50s. The Knights talent also racked up 28 disposals, 7 marks, and a goal. While Sebastian Murphy is not aligned with the Crows, this tackling machine is showing serious potential to surpass his brother.

Potential No. 1 draft pick Willem Duursma also delivered one of the best individual performances seen in the CTL this season for Gippsland Power. The brother of Essendon’s Xavier Duursma and North Melbourne’s Zane Duursma accumulated a game-high 26 disposals, 10 tackles, and 6 inside 50s. He also kicked 2.3, showcasing his sharp goal-kicking nous.
Vic Country’s 199cm ruckman Zac Harding showcased why he’s considered one of the premier big men in this year’s draft. Harding racked up a whopping 26 disposals, which is outstanding numbers for a ruckman. He also managed a round-high 27 disposals, along with 5 inside 50s, and 4 tackles. While Cooper Duff-Tytler is widely touted as the top ruck prospect in the 2025 draft class, Harding is proving he’s not far behind.
Below are the 10 best performers for Round 17 in the CTL, based off fantasy points:
1 - Sebastian Murphy (Northern Knights) – 143
2 - Willem Duursma (Gippsland Power) – 140
3 - Roman Moxon (Northern Knights) – 133
4 - Bailey Lloyd (Eastern Ranges) – 130
5 - Zac Harding (Murray Bushrangers) – 130
6 - Jack Hilton (Gippsland Power) – 125
7 - Patrick Blake (Bendigo Pioneers) – 124
8 - Hunter Ryan (Eastern Ranges) – 122
9 - Archie Taylor (GWV Rebels) – 117
10 - Zachary O’Keefe (Gippsland Power) – 115

Where do you rate Duursma in relation to his brothers?

Every year we seem to hear about another great Duursma coming through but we have yet to see one hit any great heights?

If he’s any chance to go pick 1 he’d want to be a level above Zane who seems a solid but uninspiring pick at this point in time.

Putting it mildly.

Zane has been one of the most disappointing top 3 picks in recent memory.

2 years in and shown little of anything at AFL or VFL level

It's stretching my memory to much to compare him to an under aged Xavier, I think he's shown more than Zane in terms of contested game and defensive work, but hasn't been as consistently classy by foot as Zane was, throw in his athleticism and size, it puts Willem pretty comfortably in front

Hey bangers, whats your thoughts on all these NGAs, FS and Academy kids. I have doubts on a lot (Uwland, Annable, Dean & Patterson are no brainers - definite top 10s) and if taken will provide some great value later in the draft.

Struggling to see the actual question in here
