Probs a bit lazy but I was considering Avery Thomas for the lions earlier
I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole, not because he isn't good, but because he'll go home to Tasmania long before he's ever a chance of becoming a regular starter for us.

Fair play, I’d have had more faith in the Bris culture and promise of likely playing finals every year for a long time, but Tas influence will definitely be big with these younger guys

He's number 2 on my list.
Who's your #1? Finn Davis looks interesting too, has O'Brien's size with a better ability to rebound.

Edit: I swear I didn't see your comment about him in the Lions forum before posting that!

Hey Mr PMBangers.

Can I get a list of small/medium defenders and mids who have the following prerequisites.
  • Fast
  • Good overhead mark
  • Junkyard dog attitude
  • Prefer also a good kick, but not necessary
  • Want to defend

Kids who aren't likely to be first round picks, and they don't need to be ball pigs.

Cheers
Thomas probably fits best to that, Burton is another one if you'd be willing to compromise on the marking. LeRay has some traits for the role too but lacks a little in the one on one stuff currently
To think no one wanted Wilmot in he’s draft year he wasn’t even rated in the top 25 at the time
This is just straight up wrong

Those who were around back then should know who had him rated top 20 very early in the year 😉

Who is your draft bolter?

Not thinking SUllivan Robey as he has been in many top 10's now.

But someone who a club might pickup as a first rounder, who has not been considered that early.

I imagine LeRay will be gone before the Lions' first live pick on the night, but I'd love to have him, such a versatile player.

Harry Kyle could get bid on from 10-20 I reckon, Sumner-Pickett as well has shot up since the SA U20s v U18s

Harry Kyle got bid early in the bombers mock draft.
Internally they must rank all academy boys - king, Carmichealand Kyle where they will match the bid.
An early bid may make it hard to grab all 3. Kyle did have a good draft camp results.
Plus Chamberlain too could match/Rookie.

Hey PMBangers,

Been watching a lot of replays of Emmett and Ludowyke. Obviously slightly different roles but feel both are in line for North to take with our picks.
Why do you feel there was the drop off for Ludowyke in terms of draft position and do you think he could still develop into a high end KPF?
With Emmett’s raw athleticism do you favour his ability to develop his game?

Thanks

For me I found Ludo's, admittedly limited, Champs underwhelming and had too many questions left unanswered when he was ruled out for the season. I do still feel he's got the capability to be a really good forward at AFL Level, despite not being there yet his one on one craft is good and just needs some strength training to start winning them more consistently, and his mobility is also a big tick which is almost required for modern day KPFs, I just didn't see enough to confidentially say there's more likely an AFL Player there than not.

I don't see Emmett as supremely athletic, especially in direct comparison, so if you're asking who I'd favour it's Ludo by a fair amount.

Thoughts on the two Jets boys Finnegan Davis and Oskar Ainsworth? Not mentioned heavily in draft discussions but both invited to National Combine and have had multiple interviews with Melbourne based and interstate club’s supposedly?

I don't think either have AFL level traits

PMBangers, I reviewed your learned opinion of Tsatas in '22. You always rated him high in a good draft - most of the time glowingly - you mentioned you preferred him inside but added he would be a weapon as a wing on the outside. Feels like Essendon has rejected him now. Can't play out games, can't play beyond inside mid, can't kick, no tank. Where are you at with Tsatas these days? Is it Essendon's lack of development or has the game passed him by?

Think I can chalk that up to just being wrong, had a lot of positive traits with his speed and pure ball winning ability, which ironically enough I don't care about nowadays, but his kicking probably wasn't ever AFL Level which is pretty harmful to his chances on the wing.

How does he compare to Sharp, with both not being the best kicks? Does Sharps ability to go forward bring his stocks up? Or is he a significantly better ball winner?

I remember watching Tsatas when he had 40 odd disposals at Oakleigh and could not believe the hype after that game. Being conservative I reckon 65-70% went straight back to the oppo. Unfortunately he could never kick and he’s never liked contact. But the hype train got hold of him, namely Twomey and that’s not his fault. Knowing what we all now know. I don’t think he would get drafted in this draft. Not even a rookie.

What do you think of the the potential Tigs midfield of Hotton, Lalor, Smillie, Cummings & Robey?
Surely we would now have to add Seth Campbell to that list as last year whilst not inside he showed plenty as a HHF/MID
similar to what Lambert used to do and he was always considered a mid.

Hotton, Lalor, Smillie, Cummings ,Campbell& Robey nice balance of grunt , pace and height in that group
