I know people will say he's better for the run but our number 1 goal is to win footy games, not develop Mcintosh. And ATM Petrie is a better Ruck/Forward than Hamish, Simple.
Loedi39 said:
That is wrong. Mcintosh is a better ruckman because for starters Petrie isnt a ruckman. Petrie isnt even a forward either. He has been tryed at every position for a bloke his size and he still cant pull out a respectable performance. Simple outcome. Drop Petrie pick Hamish and watch him get better with every game he plays.

Stats aren't everything but............

15 stats in 81mins(better than 12 other roos)
8 Marks (eq 2nd for roos)
5 Clearences (2nd for roos)
17 hitouts(day high ground)
8 tackles(team high)
2 clangers(team had 38)

Many people on this board making him sound like he's hopeless. He is decent and they just want a player to blame for a loss.

I don't think JYD should play Petrie in the ruck. We need to develop Hale and McIntosh now that our season is seemingly over. And he doesn't look comfortable at CHF either in such a tall team. He isn't a backman so I don't see a spot for him in our side.

He does frustrate me. Dosen't present or time his leads and his decisions are poor. But his commitment, heart and 1%ers are better than any other roo player (maybe apart from Arch).

I think he will be good trade bait. Teams like the dogs, blues, cats and maybe even the eagles may be interested in him.

Our number one goal is to win games? It is about develping McIntosh because its all about next year now, not this year. And who says that because you play the kids you cant win a game of footy? Did you watch Carlton yesterday? They had more younger players in there team then last week and got pumped by port (with the same old players who have been there for 4-5 years).

Did Carlton win ? Must have missed that part. Man I didn't buy a membership to watch McIntosh develop, I want to watch the Roos win or atleast put their best team out there and try and win. And I reckon playing Petrie is in that team.

Anyway I don't think it's in Hamish's best interest to just play, even if your not playing well. Not even D.Cox played every game in his first year.

Anyway this is the last post I'm making about Petrie, fact is he's in the team and nothing you type can change that and quite frankly your views, just like mine don't matter 'cos we're not calling the shots. Accept it like a true fan and support who ever gets to put on the North Melbourne jumper.

Well said billy_31 I totally agree with you:thumbsu:

Again, let me make this point. We have won two games. One against Port, where Hamish basically rucked the entire second half, and one against Hawthorn, where Hamish took up a big workload with Hale injured and kicked two crucial goals in the second half.

So where is this logic that playing Petrie gives us a better shot at winning? Just because he's played 80 more games, doesn't mean he has a bigger impact. Quite the opposite in fact.

We're 2-9. We're not playing finals this season. We have a huge lump of a kid who was a top ten pick and has shown he can cut it at AFL level. If we don't play him now, when do we play him? Where does he get his experience from? Does it just magically appear?

The problem with Petrie is he can play, I think his game this week was quite good, but his performances are not up to what should be expected from a senior player.

Yes a senior player, was he in the leadership group last year?

Would expect more from him each week, not just no and then.

Winning games is all that matters? Here i was thinking it was flags we were after ! If we are unalikely to win flags then develop players/ list that will be more likely.

I dont think anyone is blaming Petrie for any losses, it takes more than 1 player. As it stands he along with a number of others arent up to it, he is just one of a number of players that are letting us down.

We have tried to play the best team week in week out for years and then top up the list to hold our middle of the table ground and look where its got us.

Im not saying play all the kids, i dont think anyone is suggesting that. But when we do select em, how about givin em a few 4-5 games and chance to make mistakes, learn, improve and grow!

I didnt buy a membership to see us lose week in week out. but guess what, we have been. So the next thing i want to see is the younger guys given game time, and hopefully see somethign that will suggest next year will be a good year. Put there best team out? Then Rocca would have been in that team a few weeks back. And guess what Dean doesnt even know what the best team is, so why not throw things around and find out instead of playing a guy in the ruck who isnt a ruckman, and has not deserved to play nearlly every game this season, or the last.

I was actually at the game on Saturday and he took about 4 marks in the late stages of the last quarter, ie; junk marks.

Richmond were being conservative and had flooded your backline and he led up the field and took 3 or 4 really, really cheap marks. All of his possessions are needless 20 metre, up the ground link man chips.

I don't think there's any argument at all for him personally.

He made me sick on saturday,

I will never forget that 15m torpedo.

And the way A Krakouer brushed him aside and set up a goal.

If I was a teammate, I would be very disappointed.

All Petrie and browny can show from this season is they are average dream team players. Maybe there playing for the big prize

I cant figure out why hamish doesnt play as he plays a non-ruck in the ruck

Your right they haven't done much along with most of the list.

The difference is these guys don't kick a torp from defence straight into the arms of the opposition. Drew just happens to be the worst when it comes to execution of the ball.

I recall from the game on saturday shannon grant kicked it 3 times straight to the opposition player...... Leigh brown couldnt even run after his player. Adam Simpson just drops the ball onto his boot and hopes it gets marked by a north melbourne player so I dont think that DREW PETRIE should be the one copping it week in week out for his performances he sure isnt our worst player this year

Brown is playing soft footy, no question of that, you'll know there are a lot of threads on Brown's crapness.

Difference between Drew and the other two is.... oh I dunno.... talent?

The team is down across the board, but Petrie is at his usual meh self.

I totally agree with what you are saying about these other players. And yes they did stuff up last Saturdays game. However Drew continues to stuff up game after game week after week. This was not any different last season when we were travelling ok.

Having said this I must say Simmo is not AFL captain material, ie: Buckley Hird status.
