It’s too big to be a DS game, the wild area alone would be very difficult to pull of on the DS
Then lean into that and make the entire game that way instead of having one small part of the game be the only reason it isn't a 3DS game.

I finally settled on a team. Mostly. Only because I couldn't find anything I wanted to swap my starter out for. I don't mind Rillaboom though. It only took me until the end of the gym challenge.

Copperajah
Hatterene
Toxtricity
Rillaboom
Drednaw
Centiskorch

Copperajah and Centiskorch are awesome. Great Pokemon. I wish Copperajah had dual typing as Steel/Ground rather than just Steel though.

I'm currently just rolling with the first 6 pokemon I recieved/caught. Although the sheep and squirrel evolved last night so I swapped em out for a pikachu and a chewtle
Chewtle's evo is great for me.

Hopefully hes not too good. I already feel overpowered. Cleared the 2nd gym last and my starter was 12-14 levels higher than my opponents. One shotted everything (admittedly I am the grass starter against water here) except the final boss which took two stick pokes.

It couldn't have been a 3ds game you fools :p 3ds is dead now. Switch is their current system and this game is selling like hotcakes. Should Game Freak put the next game on the original Game Boy?

I don't know why there's such an uproar about the game's graphics. Fire Emblem Three Houses is one of my games of the year and that looks like ass.

Imo though the dynamax battles look great and if you put those on 3ds they'd have to e be significantly compromised.

Congrats you have somehow missed the entire point.

Amazing.

Current team

Dreadnaw
Centiskorch
Impidimp
Sandaconda
Corvisquire
Toxtricity (Low key form)

Starter was boring so got rid of it.

Will probably switch out Sandaconda for Ponyta/Rapidash.

Will try to catch another Toxel to get amped up toxtricity.

Chewtle's evolution falls off later on IMO, just finished the 6th gym and he hasn't really been used much at all recently, so I am looking for a new water Pokemon.

If you haven't used drednaw what makes you think you will use another water pokemon? Drednaws stats no good? Or its rock dual typing holding it back?

I only have special water moves on mine atm but it specialises in physical attacks. Assuming by it will be tougher once it learns a physical water move.

Have wanted to put out my thoughts on this game and it’s certainly the most polarising Pokémon game I’ve played, still need to finish the post game but once I have done that expect a very long review and it should certainly help those who haven’t bought the games yet and are still figuring out if it’s the right game for them.

Anyone know a good site/app to watch Pokemon animated series from front to back? Have tried the Pokemon website but is s**t quality.

Pokeflix or something like that. Type it into Google and should come up.

Netflix has the first 50 or so eps of the Indigo league and 80 something eps of Sun and Moon. Obviously it's not everything but it's a start.

i'm having fun with it, it's exactly what you expect from a pokemon game. people are hysterical because they expect much more out of it. there are plenty of RPGs now, pokemon is designed to be "my first JRPG" and knocks that out of the park.

I think Id miss my Mega Pokemon too much if I bothered to go get a Switch...

Dynamax is better IMO and doesn't take up an item.

Edit: and Im shocked to be saying that.

so apart from the fact it looks like a game from 2008, dynamax, archaic and re-used models, humanoid starters and major overworld limitations... it is ok?
It is. I just finished the main story and I enjoyed it. It's nothing amazing. Just Pokemon. I like pretty much all the new Pokemon designs, the wild area is fun, I like the idea of the gyms being in a competition. I enjoyed the gyms more than normal, even if they were pretty easy.

It's really only the wild area that the textures look REALLY bad, I think. Everything else looks quite nice. The towns are really nice to look at, even though some are disappointingly small with no reason to ever go back once you go through them.
