Released police videos shed light on teen's death after arrest in Mesquite

They were told their son hurt himself in the back of a Mesquite police car — so severely that the 18-year-old's injuries left him brain dead and eventually killed him.

It took Kathy and Robert Dyer years to uncover what actually happened the night their son, Graham, was arrested in 2013 for causing trouble in front of a local middle school.

A report from the Austin-American Statesman details the parents’ grueling search for answers. How could their son have fatally injured himself while in police custody? How had five officers not been able to subdue the 5-foot-4 teen and stop him from hurting himself?

The police withheld video of the incident until the statute of limitations had elapsed. Absolutely outrageous stuff.

@2:30 a policeman can be seen targetting Dyers testicles with a taser.

Another media grab.......

Update ...

DDWC8Z7UwAAHMdT.jpg

In response to the recent terror attacks that have plagued the UK, and after reading about local corner shops funding terrorism in Afghanistan through money laundering, a Sunderland business owner put a sign up on his corner shop that read, "Don't Fund Terrorism! Shop at Fletchers"

The sign was fairly innocuous.

Customers took pictures of themselves next to the sign. Images were shared widely across social media.

But the sign provoked outrage with a Muslim shop owner up the street.

Then the police decided to become involved, visiting the store seven times and asking Mr. Fletcher to take down the sign. They threatened to arrest him if he didn't.

Eventually, the police threatened to take away Mr. Fletcher's liquor license, which would have sunk his entire business, if the sign was not removed.

In compliance, Mr. Fletcher was forced to take down his sign.

We can't allow police to intimidate Mr. Fletcher for simply displaying his patriotism.

I generally respect them, but at the same time if ever i was pulled in for questioning about anything ( which i never have) i would say absolutely nothing without a lawyer even if i was 100% innocent.

If the Police get it in their mind that you are guilty they will have no hesitation in my mind to fit you up, particularly if it is serious.

Wrong, they don't fit anyone up.

Because if you havent done anything against the law.

1/ They won't pull you over (and you said that they never have anyway).

2/ Don't let sensationalist fools let you lose faith in the police just because they choose to break the law for a living (not mentioning any names of course).

Except for the countless numbers of documented instances where innocent people have been hounded by Police. There is a statistic from the USA that 1 in 25 people on death row are innocent....

By your reckoning, everyone that goes to court is guilty... which is plainly not the case because people are found innocent in a court of law everyday.

Thankfully in Australia, we don't give Police military powers like the U.S; and generally I think Australian Police Officers reflect our society values well but what I don't understand from bootlickers like yourself is the absolute terms you speak in when it comes to nothing being wrong on the other side of the thin blue line. Even Police Officers when they are off-duty will talk quite candidly about the internal pressures/bullshit that is inherent in the force.

FYI, you can get pulled over by Police for doing nothing wrong. Happens everyday... I was pulled over randomly (not at a RBT) a few weeks back, cop said as much, drug and alcohol test all came up sweet and I was on my way.

There's thousands of such cases. Lets's start with 36 years for doing nothing wrong:

Innocence Project New Orleans client John Floyd was released today after 36 years in prison at Angola. In May, a federal judge threw out his murder conviction and ruled that he be retried or released within 120 days. The New Orleans District Attorney’s Office agreed to release Floyd on Thursday while it appealed the decision.

Floyd has been in custody since his arrest in 1981 for two separate murders in the French Quarter the previous year. According to the Associated Press, Floyd, who has an IQ of 59, says two detectives approached him in a bar and bought him several beers before arresting him. At the station, Floyd says the detectives beat him and coerced him into confessing to the murders.

The victims, William Hines and Rodney Robinson, were each found stabbed to death in their beds after apparently sharing a drink and having consensual sex with the perpetrator. Biological evidence recovered from crime scenes, some of which was never turned over to prosecutors, suggested the victims were killed by a man with Type A blood. Floyd has Type B blood. Fingerprints on the drinking glasses at each crime scene, which were also not turned over by police, also did not match to Floyd.

Floyd was acquitted of the murder charge for Robinson’s case, since his confession differed significantly from the details of the crime scene. He was, however, found guilty of Hines’ murder and was sentenced to life in prison.

In May, U.S. District Judge Sarah Vance said that no reasonable juror would have found Floyd guilty had they been presented with the biological and fingerprint evidence from the crime scene. She also noted that since Floyd’s confession to Robinson’s murder was inaccurate, his confession to Hines’ murder was likely also inaccurate.

There's plenty of dodgy practices conducted by Australian detectives. It's a different structure here.

Yeah, yeah noone's ever guilty.
Why do you guys keep quoting US media rubbish as the basis of your silly arguments?

I'm not a bootlicker, just law abiding, it's not that hard to understand.

So the cops who pulled you over, as they are allowed to do, just gave you a couple of tests and sent you on your way? What's your problem then?
You and your mate SB watch too many movies and far too much TV I'm afraid.

Come on over and join the real world.....

More US media claptrap....
You live in Australia don't you?

All you ever do is just repeat someone elses opinion....
No credibility in that.

So many assumptions, all of them wrong, LOL.

I didn't say no one is ever guilty... on the contrary it is a case by case basis. You're the one generalising that everyone who is pulled up by Police is always guilty; the simple fact that people are found innocent in court every single day completely destroys that generalisation.

If you were a slave owner in the 1700's, you would have been a law abiding citizen as well, doesn't make you a good person.

Where in my post did I say I had an issue with being pulled over?! I was merely stating that I was pulled over despite not breaking the law at all despite you literally saying...
Because if you havent done anything against the law.

1/ They won't pull you over

The mental gymnastics bootlickers go through to defend the thin blue line is ridiculous. Why is it so for Police and their bootlickers to admit to their faults? Admitting to your faults is actually an admirable thing to do, first step towards being better, but that would require someone wanting things to get better instead of maintaining the status quo that only benefits a few power hungry individuals.

I've never had an issue with Police for 1 very, very, very simple reason.
I don't break the law.......

I leave them alone, they leave me alone, pretty easy really when you think about it.

Do you have facts that show how many people are found innocent in court every single day?
Or are you and SB going to hit Mr Google again and come up with some more unsubstantiated American rubbish?

The odd person would get off on technical reasons, such as incorrect paperwork, but that's it.

We get it, you don't break the law, well done... gold star for you. I don't know how that relates to anything I posted.

Are you seriously questioning that people are found innocent of charges on a daily basis? Do you know how many court cases there are a day in Australia? I am not providing you any stats, all the resources are there for you to research yourself if you really want to know the truth but judging from the "Police are perfect" rhetoric in your posts, I doubt that very much.

So, no Mr Google research this time?
You and your mate SB are running out of credibility very quickly.
LOL.......

As I said, if you wanted to research actual Australian government statistics, its very easy to do so. A simple google search will get you to those websites :$

Since you live in Australia how about linking a shit load of bad things our police do, instead of what happens in the US which has nothing to do with us I suspect you'll have a hard time finding too much.

Or even better change the heading to American police.

Okay I will.

Of course, I can't publicly comment on all the payouts involving non disclosure clauses, but I can provide plenty of other examples.

Give me time.

Here's an ombudsmans report to get you started:

Or even better change the heading to American police.

I'm happy with it as it is.

If you can't delineate the various jurisdictions then that is your problem.

For a country that is perceived not to be corrupt, a lot has happened in the last 20 years. Let me recall a few highlights, in no particular order:

• the institutional corruption in Queensland under the Bjelke-Petersen government as shown by the Fitzgerald Inquiry;
• the institutional corruption in the New South Wales Police Force as shown by the Wood Royal Commission;
• allegations of institutional corruption in the Western Australian Police Force resulting in the Kennedy Inquiry;
• serious problems in the drug squad in Victoria (and that police force is widely regarded as the cleanest in the country with high standards and leadership of integrity);
• massive corporate scandals of which HIH and One-Tel are current and striking examples.
