I would suggest that we all send in our resumes to that email address as a joke, but there is a very high and real possibility that one of us would be the successful applicant - and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone!
Perhaps Thommo will go for it

Gil apparently leaving the AFL to take up a role at the Crown.
please be true.
Isn't Andrew Demetriou on the board? Pretty sure I saw him with Packer on a picture from the AGM last month. Just checked yes he is.

Would Gil want to be watched over by Andy D again?

People bitched about "Vlad", people bitched about "Gil the dill", people itched about "**** Oakley" and they'll sure as hell bitch about whoever the next leader is.

Comes with the territory and will always be unpopular as it is never a cool thing for people to accept those responsible for leading the sport.

Nah, Vlad wasn’t perfect, but he was better then Gil. Oakley the best of the recent bunch. Gil the worst, edging Jackson, who was so afraid of being seen to favour the non-Vics he went the other way (plus screwed Port over with his dislike of Primus’s rucking).

AFL umpire Ray Chamberlain has stepped up the campaign to scrap the bounce, highlighting the anxiety a number of umpires are feeling over the issue.
HIGH-PROFILE umpire Ray Chamberlain has stepped up the campaign to scrap the bounce.
The traditional centre bounce is under threat with the league’s whistle blowers calling for it to be abolished due to health and safety issues.
The bounce has already been scrapped in elite junior competition the TAC Cup.
“Razor Ray” described the bounce as his own “kryptonite” and said colleagues were forced to medicate anxiety due to the pressure of bouncing the ball during matches.

I've never heard him speak - does he sound like a jockey too?

"yeah i think we'll back our culture in and what we do inside our footy club to keep our guys on track" lol isn't it stock standard for a captain, if his captaincy is questioned, to give some kind of respectable answer to do with what the club and the players think is right? this guy says nah we'll "back our culture in" (has any athlete ever thrown around the word culture as much before?) to "keep the guys on track"? what the guys questioning your captaincy? keep them on track, how dare they speak against the system paying them!

I like their three pillars for success.
Although I think they've missed an opportunity for a fourth pillar:
Best sausage sizzles (according to rootsgrassfooty their sausage sizzles kept prot powers afloat for about 10 years)
The outer army used to have pretty good sausage sizzles at AAMI. Don't know what happened to them, they stopped about two or three years before we left AAMI.

I will be absolutely amazed if Gil gives up his role as number 1 banana at the AFL to become an employee of Crown casino, even if the financial rewards were better.
He is probably on at least a mil a year plus bonuses anyway, and I suspect the AFL role would be seen as much more prestigious, and the prestige that comes with a job is one of the key elements for execs who get to that level.

If this is true, Richard Goyder has probably bloked his latest proposal presented to the Commission.

Goyder yesterday finished up at Westfarmers after announcing he would leave 8 or 9 months ago when he become Commission Chairman. Maybe it's sign of a more executive chairman than hands off chairman of the Commission.

Gillon McLachlan earned $1.7 million in his first full year as AFL chief executive (2015?).

Rowen Craigie (Crown's CEO) was paid $5.69 million in 2016.

I'd say the financial incentives would be substantial.

We'll have to wait and see. Goyder is also taking over from Michael Chaney as chairman of the board at Woodside.
