Wembley is Tottenham’s home ground.

I still see the point though. There is no way Richmond would be Premiers if it wasn’t for the MCG Victorian bias. Crows finished top, and would have slaughtered them at Adelaide oval and probably beaten them on a neutral ground.

If they can't win away then they aren't good enough.

Until every state has a stadium that can seat 100k, the GF stays at the G.

And do you really think that if Adelaide and Perth built 100k stadiums, the AFL would play a GF there?

Most people in Melbourne see the AFL as simply a rebadged version of the VFL with a few pesky 'interstate' teams added to bring the dollars in. And given Melbourne is where the game is run out of and where the majority of fans reside, this will always be the prevailing view at AFL House too.

I don't think it'll happen anytime soon. There's only one place it can happen in this day and age and that's at the MCG.

Because it should be the biggest spectacle possible.
So if Adelaide and Port are in a GF what would be the point in having a GF in Victoria with a crowd made up largely of non-supporters? There would be a good number of Port and Adelaide supporters who would travel to see the GF but the atmosphere would be a much greater spectacle at AO. And the possibility of scalping with MCG members having first dibs on multiple tickets would be a real problem.

No different to 2004, 2005 and 2006. You want the most people to be able to witness the occasion.

I thought the spectacle was the game and the players but you clearly think that it is all about the crowd. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

No it's not ALL about the crowd but if we're talking 100k vs. 54k, what do you think would be a bigger spectacle and better atmosphere? A Showdown GF at AO for example would have so many people missing out on being there it'd be ridiculous.

The Re-South Australianisation of the Adelaide Crows

lol they just don't get it do they

The pride of a footballing developmental wasteland.

Kay.

There is where you wrong. It would be FAIR to have the GF at a neutral ground or at the ground of the highest-finishing team. I don't give a shit about the perceived SA-VIC rivalry (which, let's face it, only goes one way). If it is a national competition, let's respect every club and state equally. I don't give a shit if the GF is played in Geelong, the SCG or Western Sydney, let's let the teams that earned a competitive advantage during the regular season have that advantage right until the end, regardless of crowd numbers and ticket sales. That is how a REAL national competition should work. But we all know this isn't a truly national competition, don't we?
100% correct.

One of the posts says that if their last selections had been Burton and Hayward then their last 4 would be from SA. But they weren't, were they? I used to think their logic was difficult to understand, now I realize it's non-existent.
