What a bullshit standard of football tonight and last night. Gilligan and his AFL excutives should be forced to watch this on the outer wing no bloody corporate facilities and can't leave early. Trying to force this shit on us at the most exciting time of the season.

This game needs the skill and athleticsm of Erin Phillips. Where is Spaghetti Marinoff to add some class to the game. A few Allies players have been in a good paddock since the AFLW has finished. Obviously playing at their lcoal clubs the training hasn't been as elite. Watching 12 minutes in the last quarter was all I could stomach.

Should have been WA v Qld. They regularly have close games at national championships. The Vic girls have more to play for than the Allies girls.

You know it was just a sentimental wank to try and gather increased support in Victoria for AFLW matches, right? It had nothing to do with the actual game, but was more designed to appeal to the Victorian football public. Gil trying the hard sell to the commission to say that a game that no one in their right mind would pay money to see is worth more investment than building the game from the grassroots level.

My message to Gillon would be this: Keep the AFLW as it is for the next ten years and build up the ****ing talent pool, you ****ing hack. When a team comprised from the best talent outside of Victoria gets smashed, it's a warning sign that there isn't enough talent to go around. Starting in 2018 instead of 2020 was a ****ing stupid move to stroke your over-inflated ego and desire to create a 'legacy'.

An allies team gets together for a couple of days before the game.

A WA or Qld team is made up of team mates and girls who play against each other week in week out and you can have a few training runs together before you head off to nationals. There is a difference.

Those Melbourne v Bulldogs games were the best 44 players evenly spread between the 2 teams with no allegences.

Make sure you keep talking to Richard Goyder Janus. He has twice rejected Gill's expansion plans since he became Chairman in April. Fitzpatrick gave Gil his AFLW baby before he left as he had "blood on his hands" re Essendon and wanted a good news story and Gil wanted a legacy.

Eddy's job isn't just to kick goals, its to fit in the zonal structure up the field and track back deep into the forward line all game while also creating a lot of defensive pressure by hard running and tackling.

I dont know about this, you would think it would work, however interests only are there for the clubs who have a team in the comp. Many have said that its manufactured, so was the commentator on ABC Radio...... over inflated..... trying to pass off a shit footy for real substance....

I watched 10 minutes of that game and the skills and game play in comparison to the men's was horrible.

They really should just stick to trying to make the Aflw a viable competition.

I watched 4 minutes at the start (which apparently was the best contest for the entire match) and that was enough

I agree completely with the idea of a women's league, as it is fantastic to create pathways for girls in sports. But as Janus said, build it up to create the talent pool first ffs.

Oh and play it pre-season, when footy has finished for 4 months, and we are starved of ANY footy. Not at the pointy end of the year, when the elite level of competition is just about to hit us full on.

Comparing womens to mens at this point in time just exacerbates the "light years away" gulf between the two comps.
