So we play a cavalcade of fly-in Melbourne teams in Alice Springs whilst working alongside our indigenous programs for years and get no media attention for it, as the game gets shunted off to foxtel, we head off to China so we get robbed of the game and it gets given to the Crows and gets turned into a wannabe marquee "heart of the nation" game broadcast nationally.

I actually really like the idea of making the game a big deal (it should've always been either a Friday night or Sunday day game during Indigenous Round) but man, we got shafted yet again.

Yeah but Crows have Eddie Betts .. so yeah.

We could have marketed it that way, we didn’t.
Our own fault.

Given it was our away game, the burden of marketing should have feel on Melbourne/Dogs

**** those guys even more.

I would have liked to have seen us push it more though, given how many games we had up there. We were the true NT team before the Melbourne ones or the Crows in my eyes.

Gee..we have yet another away game coming up after the bye..this time in Tasmania.
This is getting ridiculous.
From one end of the earth to the other.
Then we will have another trip to Optus and a trip to Mars amongst our away games in the second half.
What the hell are the AFL doing?
Meanwhile teams like Richmond get game after game at the MCG.
#balance
One overseas trip after another.

Just saying.

I consistently despair at the free to air TV coverage of games in the AFL. Tomorrow we have what could be game of the season thus far in West Coast V Richmond but Adelaide viewers are forced to endure a Brisbane V Hawthorn irrelevant snore fest. I know these broadcast games are decided when the fixture is released but sheesh. Foxtel keeps looking better and better
If you looked at the fixture when it came out West Coast v Richmond would still have appeared the tastier choice. There must be some kind of quota.

MRO comments on Lance Franklin after he concussed Joel Hamling and took him out of the game. "In the normal course of trying to win the ball" and Sam Powell-pepper's innocuous and unintentional bump on Ben Ainsworth where he got straight back up "the head is sacrosant and he chose to bump".

Just looked at the draw and St. Kilda's next three matches are against Richmond, West Coast and Sydney. They are so screwed.
mic59 was right in saying we will get pick 19 not 21 from St Kilda.

Yeah, but we done the heavy lifting on that, and if we still had AAMI crowds, it would be a home game. The NT was more us being selected by the AFL to be the guys who played away to the Melbourne teams and us making lemonade with it.
And we complain about the effort GCS put in.

We had opportunity in the NT and we didn’t capitalise, we can’t be bitter because others are.

I agree to some extent, but you KNOW the other clubs and AFL would have whinged that we are stealing their game/initiative, and said if we want to do that then we should sacrifice our home game instead.

We weren't allowed to. The AFL in 2010 told us to make NT a new market like the Hawks made Tassie one, but we couldn't sell games to the NT government get cash for that and get an annual $2mil+ billboard sponsorship from them like the Hawks did.

We did an innovative deal with NTFL and NT government to split the gate receipts but we had no branding rights. Then the AFL stopped us being one of the away opponents for games in NT.

We continue doing work in the NT outback then the AFL start the Next Generation Academies in the NT - give monies and zones to the big Vic clubs of Essendon, Collingwood, Hawthorn and Geelong and give the southern 40% of NT to Melbourne despite us doing as much footy promo as them for Alice Springs games and Melbourne doing bugger all community stuff there.

No wonder we didnt capitalise the NT opportunity.

Only thing holding us back is Brisbane's ability to win a game. They may be one of the best 0-8 teams in history but at the end of the day they are still one and a half games behind St Kilda. And there is nothing to say the Saints won't snag a win soon. Last night they were challenging right up to the point they went 10 points down. There were still nearly a full two quarters to go but you couldn't see them winning. Once they get past that mindset they'll win games.

AFL does a lot of back room handcuffing to try and keep the big victorian teams big and profitable and the small teams small and just alive.

If the 8 still contains the same teams as it does right now, we would have played every side in the top 8 in our first 11 games. I expect Melbourne to win and push into the 8 today debunking this scenarnio, but still, nobody can accuse us of having an easy draw or not beating anybody in the top 8.
As of now we have played 5 of last year's top eight and beaten 2 of them. Although I fully expect this to be otherwise ignored totally or it will be just pointed out we have lost to 3 top eight teams. More likely ignored totally as most people would realise that one of the teams we have beaten is the cows.
