Yeah, I've seen people "assaulted", and this ain't assault. Harassment? Sure. Kick him out of the ground and be done with it.
It's assault, assault isn't down to your personal preferences, it's a legal term and totally apparent here.

I’d be revoking the bum tapper’s membership for the year. Or banning him from a few games.

It’s not about severity, he clearly crossed a line that 99.999% of supporters have been able to respect.

If it was an AFLW game and a bloke did that the uproar would be much greater. A game or 2 ban would be sufficient I reckon (although policing that may be difficult if he just used another card to enter or something). I understand people thinking, oh it was just a bum tap, get over it, but you just cannot be leaning over the fence doing that.

I got assaulted about 15 times yesterday then
No you didn't, incidental contact does not come under assault.
If someone went out of their way to slap you on the arse without permission 15 times yesterday you did.

It isn't something players should even have to think about! To defend it is very strange.

Yes, clearly assault. Obviously some are failing to seeing assault sits on a spectrum of actions. Some straw man arguing that because it's (obviously) not as serious as someone punching Wood in the head when he was near the fence, that it's not assault.

Although it seems fairly stupid and not permanently damaging to Wood, it is still inappropriate and offensive that someone can grab his arse when he is at work. If that happened to any of us while we were at our workplace I am fairly sure the 'grabber' would be in a lot of trouble.

He definitely needs some sort of public reprimand. In some workplaces the 'grabber' may be ordered to do some anti-harassment training for a few weeks with suspended pay. So maybe he needs to be sent to some re-training perhaps on camp with them.

The real crime here is the lack of public response by the football club that it involves. How are they allowed to remain so quiet and have no real response to it. I am pretty sure every other club would have faced the media quite a few times regarding the incident by now. They are investigating it which really means we are going to ignore it until it dies down. They are hoping that someone else will take the headlines and soon. I just wonder what would the fall out have been if that was a Port supporter?

Wasnt that sexual assault? Is that what this is being called?

What difference does it make if the word “assault” is being used?
KT and the club said after they viewed the CCTV footage that what Sam did was nowhere near what Channel 7 was accusing him of doing, but that he did make the woman feel uncomfortable. How is that different? Especially given Easton Wood was joking and laughing about the incident as late as yesterday.

This, I generally agree with. But revoking memberships? And you can’t force Joe citizen to go and attend training sessions. He’s not (I assume) a paid employee of the club, he’s a paying customer.

A statement from the crows is needed.

Ok, so you agree with Channel 7’s initial wording of the SPP incident then. Good-oh.

Yes, if the evidence was there it was assault. Not necessarily sexual assault. *IF

In this case it was seen by millions of people in HD, they aren't comparable, don't be so ****ing ridiculous.

Or at least try to understand the definitions before being so.

The humiliation of publicly exposing the 'slapper' together with a warning about touching players during play should be sufficient here

Not much difference between this and the Essendon Fan / Gawn incident

But it is the paranoid media control freaks we are talking about here .....

That's anyone who can read. It's a legal term with a legal definition, and that definition is broad.

Very broad. So broad that we probably need another word to help out with the all the broad.

As for Assgrabber well 3 weeks and a public shaming seems to be the going rate when there’s no evidence to prove your guilt so it has to be above that if you’re caught red-handed so to speak.

Controversial opinion time, Charlie Cameron for Pick 12 was a decent trade for Brisbane. Sure they could have got him cheaper, but he's a proven class performer who trained in a great system, performs on the biggest stage and wants to go to your club.

For a team that's had huge issues with player retention and attracting quality players it was a good call pulling the trigger on that one and risk overpaying, particularly since he was contracted.

His performance this weekend was super impressive. I think I'm guilty of under-rating him.

There’s a huge difference. Essendon dickhead never touched Gawn, Crows dickhead did. That’s the line. It always has been. Nobody (except maybe Josh Jenkins) is calling for bans for members based on giving a bit of lip over the fence, but physically touching the players is not on.

I’m not usually one for the slippery slope argument but I think this is one case where it does apply. If Crows dickhead gets off scot-free for this, then that empowers other dickheads to think that touching players over the fence is OK.

The crows dickhead “only” slapped him on the arse because his reaction time was too slow. If he were quicker we’d probably see an incident like Motlop v Roos years ago.
Don’t touch, year ban is a strong message. As someone else pointed out google Monica Seles.

Look at that trio!
