Melbourne would be as frustrating to support as we are atm

Nah wayyyy worse.

They had the governing body parachute a saviour coach into their club.

When the club was exposed as blatantly tanking to acquire draft picks and the the afl had to act because they just spent the last couple of years talking up how tough they were on it they fined them, then paid the fine for them.

They were given an insane amount of leg ups, priority picks, blank cheques, one sided draws and so on.

Afl basically bought them that cup, and all the talk was about dynasty with their superstar core and not only did that dynasty not eventuate they have barely been competitive since.

Arguably the worst performed team compared to expectations in the history of the sport. It’s not like they had a bunch of career ending injuries or retirements after that cup. It was largely the same side that won the cup going around since and they’ve sucked absolute balls.

That premiership was bought and paid for by the afl.

Any honest melb fan would have to own up to that and admit they’ve been incredibly frustrating that they haven’t gone on with it since

Adelaide are definitely contenders
Was a time when I hated the crows for everything that every went wrong in this town sport wise.

I hated them as a club, their politics, the cosy media wankfest that kept them from scrutiny and the way every decent middle sized business in this town jumped on to their bandwagon. I didn't speak to my son for a fortnight after he bought a friggin Toyota from an Adelaide dealerships.

But have come to realise that my anger was not just misplaced but was detrimental to the things that I wanted to see changed.

We live in a 2 club town, AFL wise. And if anything is going to force my club to accept it's headed in the wrong direction and it needs fundamental change in every aspect of the way it conducts is business on and off field then it's the Crows giving the 2025 Premiership a mighty shake.

The thing that forces the local pizza bar to lift its game isn't the fact there are far better pizzas in Napoli, but the threat of better pizzas from the competitor on the next corner that takes away your local customers.

So Go Crows. Hope you fall to a 120 point loss on Grand Final Day. But you're our only friggin hope for a proper review and change in approach and leadership at Alberton. You were never our real threat - we were.

They still won the cup

Nowhere near the conversation for worse performing team to expectations.

Since Blight got to Geelong for the 1989 season they have only had 4 coaches. Blight changed Geelong on field and a decade later Frank Costa and Brian Cook changed them off field.

Their stability involves a fair bit of success, not Koch's do ok type stability stability. 4 coaches, 4 presidents and 5 CEO's.

Blight 6 seasons 1989-1994 - 3 losing GF's - small, medium and large, 1 PF, missed finals twice - final 5 once, final 6 once.
Ayres 5 seasons 1995-1999 - 1 losing GF - 3 finals series, missed finals in his last 2 seasons.
Thompson 11 seasons 2000-2010 - 2 flags, 1 losing GF, 2 PFs missed finals + 2 finals series - missed finals 4 times
Chris Scott 14 seasons + 2025 - 2 Flags, 1 losing GF, 6 PFs + 3 finals series - missed finals twice.

10 GFs in 36 seasons, 19 PFs or better in 36 seasons and 26 finals series.
