What should be the penalty for using as your avatar a character who is a stereotypically " Crafty Jew"? Especially in this climate of escalating Antisemitism? Labelling others Neaderthals whilst stumbling on his own hypocrisy, sanctimony and pomposity. 4 weeks?

Your either a fool or a hypocrite. It's a direct f-u to you for your post (since deleted) in the Tredrea thread dealing with the inquiry into Tredrea's podcast which attracted damning criticism from the Australian Jewish community for being antisemitic.

You know, the one where the post where you offered, as usual nothing of substance to the discussion, other than a personal attack quoting 'you've got to pick a pocket or two' - the song sung by Fagin in the musical version of Dickens Oliver Twist.

Now that it attracted your attention, I might change back. But it stays for now. To highlight your bigoted ignorance and hypocrisy.

Right yeah I have that as worse than ***er but not as bad as *. Probably somewhere around the *******, ********* and *****face range.

The gay people I know would laugh their ***** off if someone called them a pouffe.

The bundle of sticks word though... that's a whole 'nother story.

There was a really good article by the New York Times where they surveyed players about fan interactions.

The overwhelming consensus was that fans have become absolute pricks since sports gambling became so easy. They have fans abusing them spontaneity for their losing bets.

Gambling is a poison to sport.
Truer words have never been spoken in this thread.

But the issue here is what type of person resorts to racist slurs in a moment of anger or frustration. I think we know.

Agree. The 'pouffe' word is a bit of a meme these days. A dig at the idiots from the Benny Hill/Dick Emery days who thought it was clever and funny. Widely used by the gay community themselves. And as always its the context that counts.

We all know gays in our workplace. People we work with, people we're friends with. But that wasn't always the way of course.

Those gays who have the courage to go public with their sexuality might laugh at the jokes being told about them in a group - afraid of being seen as not being part of the joke or to be outed themselves - but behind the laughs there's an evil bullying ignorance and a reminder of the past that is still there in some minds.

Homosexuality was illegal in all states of Australia for most of our lifetimes and was only decriminalised in Tasmania in 1997 - considered a criminal for the way they were born. Gangs of alpha men roaming gay haunts on '****ter bashing' sprees, throwing gays off cliffs or, drowning them in city rivers - as occurred in 1972 in Adelaide, a murder widely beleived to habe been committed by on duty SA Police officers

When people have been denied basic rights for who and what they are, using slurs in 2025 to drag them back to those days are worse.

How many AFL players have outed themselves as being 'gay'? Why do we think that is? A large chunk of that reason is because their sexuality is no one else's business. But only a fool would believe that's the only reason.

The old' sticks and stones' defence is nothing but a cover for the lingering hatred and ignorance when it comes to racist, homophobic attacks. On the field, in the crowds, and in the street. That's just a simple fact.

If you think you’re educating someone with no understanding of the historical context or without any experience of the culture in question, you’d be very wrong.

My comment was about one word in particular and how those in my circle view it.

No - it was not meant to be attack on you. But understand how it could be taken that way - apologies. You'l see I subsequently added the extra sentence to reflect that.

Factually incorrect.
