This year then.

I assume you mean points scored overall for the season as the one time we played Norf in 2025 we outscored them 97 - 88.

For the season they scored 100 points more than us but they also conceded 499 points more than us. They had a percentage of 76.3% while we had a better percentage of 79.8%. Given we finished second in 2024 and they finished second last they, theoretically at least, had an easier fixture in 2025.

We finished the season in thirteenth and they finished in sixteenth so I'm not sure how you are implying that by scoring 100 points more than us for the season with a net of 399 points less they are somehow a better team.

The point was North scored 100 points more than us over the season.
That fact alone is embarrassing considering how rubbish they are.
Has nothing to do with who’s better.

If it has nothing to do with who's better why is it embarrassing?

I can see both sides, obviously we lacked potency up forward, our 74 point average per game was very poor. But it wasn't as if we were play super tight defence either as we conceded on average 93 point per game.

Our percentage this year was embarrassing.

However looking at points for in isolation versus another team is flawed. In 2005 Carlton scored more than Sydney, and Sydney won the flag and Carlton got the wooden spoon.

You'll score a lot of points if you don't really even try to defend. So will the other team though.

We spent almost all of the season with our KPF 2 and 3 out injured. We had injury and form issues with our best small forwards, and the entire club basically gave up on the season about 5 rounds in.

Baselining our ability off of 2025 is misguided, it wasn't a normal year and it's not a good representation of how good we are.

I believe 2024 wasn’t a normal year and our ladder position made us look better than we actually were.
We finished 2nd but the team that finished 8 was a shorter price to win the flag than we were.
Agreed everything that could go wrong did last year.
I see us somewhere in between last year and 2024 as a true measure where we are at.

We also played 9 of the top 10 teams away and not sure anyone else had to play the Hawks in Tassie, Dogs in Ballarat, in Geelong and at the Gabba. Didn’t get the luxury of playing any of WC, North, Richmond and Essendon twice (yes I know they beat us at Marvel, but surely we would’ve beaten them here… I think…).

Don’t get me wrong, we were mostly terrible this year but our difficult draw coupled with our injuries done us no favours.

In 2023 we finished 3rd as well.

Maybe the 2023 3rd and the 2024 2nd were inflated based on a variety of things but you still, we were an entrenched top 8 side. If you can do that, you can win a flag. You just have to get better when the whips are cracking, like a Port Adelaide side would, and not much worse, like Ken Hinkley sides did.

I believe you can only win a flag if you make a grand final.
If you’re not good enough to make one you’re not good enough to win one.
I know it’s a very basic way of looking at it but when you cut all the emotion out of it that’s all that’s left.

Well you have to make the Grand Final to win a flag, so I think that's too reductive. But I think the list of sides who could potentially win the flag if they had everything going right for them is much longer. I think if you can finish top 4 then you can win a flag. It's not talent holding you back. And we've finished top 4 in 4 of the last 6 seasons.

Nobody would have considered Richmond a chance at winning the flag going into the 2017 season, for example.

There really isn't much between a good list and a bad list provided you're not very young. It's about belief and executing when it matters.

You watched the GF like I did this year, our list as it stands and i repeat as it stands right now isn’t within a Bulls raw of that.
Not saying we can’t be as we weed this list over and it’s happening, call it what you want but a lot of our present players are on borrowed time.
Fact is over half our 2025 list won’t be at the club in two years.

Brisbane lost 6 games this season and drew another one. They're not even close to unbeatable.

This year, in what i'd describe as the worst year in our history, in round 13 we beat the Giants and in round 14, the Giants beat Brisbane.

The idea that any team is insurmountably ahead just isn't the case. Go and ask some of the more talented SANFL sides over the last 150 years what it was like to play a less talented Magpies side in the finals.

The only thing I can say about this is that I need to see a decent run of form of our best 23 with good coaching, hopefully provided by Josh Carr. It might take a while for the players to change their attitudes of the past and unHinklify the loser, nice bloke rubbish out of them and also play to a more hard, accountable style of play but once that is imprinted on the players, then we will definitely know what we have and what we need.

Our list is young in that the majority of our good players are young - Rozee, Butters, the Hornet, Bergman, Georgiades, etc. 4th year player types who need to step up - Visentini, Lachie Jones, Burgoyne, Sinn, Lukosius and then the 2nd year players - Berry, Whitlock, Moraes, Logan Evans, Cochrane, Ramm, etc.

The problem we have is that our 27 year old types are not impactful.

Channel 7 will be negotiating with the AFL to push the start time of the AFL grand final to later in the day, according to Channel 7's director of sport, Chris Jones.
Jones said Channel 7's position was clear and understandable if you look at how successful the NRL Grand Final was this year, claiming 'there’s no doubt the audience is much more significant'.
“I can’t speak for them (the AFL), what I can say is that we have constant dialogue with them,” Jones said on SEN Breakfast. “Clearly, we’d love a night Grand Final. I think we’re headed towards a twilight Grand Final, hopefully.

Why are the crowbots back at training and we are not back doing preseason? I think our squad needed the extra training after our performances last season

The crows holding unofficial training sessions in the public eye, all with their shirts off in front of the cameras seems like a weird attempt at a flex but i'm sure their nuffy fans would froth on it.

I think i saw all the North Melbourne boys doing a sans shirt session in the public eye too, they must be set for a big year too lol.

At the end of the day, the AFL has guidelines in place that mean we can't officially start pre season yet, but yeah if the guys want to train together unofficially they can but they would all have their own training programs they can do on their breaks as well. I'd like to think the days of players coming back 10-15kg overweight are gone, i think most of them would be putting in the hard yards.

the crows unofficial session being broadcast was a bit of a wank to me.

They spend a lot of time training together before the season starts, i don't think there is any rush.

I see some amateur clubs have gone a bit silly with pre season starts times lately, some have already started, which is ridiculous in my opinion.

Even more obvious that posters believe we were good enough to win a flag when we botched every opportunity to at least play for one.
The old excuse barrel is getting pretty low starting next year.

By it's very definition, saying we botched opportunities means we were good enough and didn't get it done.

We've removed a lot of the stench of loser from our club this offseason.
