So the first issue for the day is will Rodan play, and if so at whose expense?


Things I really want to see today:
1. Butcher to step it up and exert a real influence on the match opposed to similarly aged defenders (Talia or Shaw).

2. Hartlett and Boak to dominate through the midfield i.e. not at HB.

3. Wingard to put 4 quarters of brilliance together and progress from being a bit player.

4. McCarthy and Ebert to play their best matches yet for the club.

5. Renouf to hold his own against Jacobs.

6. A great team defensive effort. Lots of tackling, one percenters, running to support and spread and harrass and pressure.

7. A big win!

After last week, I want to see full on tough, intense, contested footy from the opening bounce and then keep the pressure up and see what unfolds from there. Even a few scuffles wouldn't go astray.

We are a team that needs to focus on applying pressure for the duration. No lapses, no resting on an imagined laurels. With that will come forcing the opposition into error and the confidence to use the ball well ourselves.

Do those things well and we will come away with the win.

I'm not. We have a small defender who is back in sterling form and has thrashed small forwards who are considerably better than Callinan.

The game will be won in the midfield.
