To the fools that drag out the 'Excuse Book', every time you 'feel superior' and like to give us shi+, how about you worry about your own team.....

I take it I'm one of those "non-Essendon" people you're referring to.

My statement : congratulations to the Teal Blues for breathing new life into a dead season : had absolutely jack nothing to do with Essendon. It was a positive pro-Port statement.

The reason I had considered the season "dead" was because it looks almost certain that my favourite Club, Collingwood, will miss the finals again.

If you've ever read any of my posts you would probably realise that Port Adelaide is my second-favourite club. Port has been in a bit of a slump recently but their win over Essendon proves that they are still a force to be reckoned with this year.

So, for a person in my position, Port's win comes as something of a consolation prize in what is beginning to shape up as another disappointing season. I've take no particular delight in Essendon losing. I've never wished any harm upon them. They are simply not that important in my over-all scheme of things.

I thought Essendon played brilliantly. They always looked dangerous. Wellman was BOG. And I didn't think Port was going to win until Stewie Dew kicked that point near the end. Great game of football played by two great sides. And I was thrilled to see Port win.

I think the season is now poised for a three-way battle for the flag.

Essendon still looks the team to beat, but they've got strong opposition from Emu Springs and the Old Light Tealie Blues.

I am pleased that the 3 biggest challengers this season - Carlton, Brisbane and Port Adelaide - have all actually beaten the Bombers.

This would tend to suggest that making - let alone winning - the Grand Final is not quite the sure thing Bomber fans expect.

(Oh, and BTW, I am not rejoicing in a Bomber loss as it is denying Richmond their rightful place in the top 4 :D)
