Gov strips it, Nelson shows composure

Hook it to my veins. Nelson’s season has been an A+ in my books because it seems like we’ve found another plug and play contributor to the backline. Awesome month+ of footy.

He's been an absolute revalation. He belongs.

Glad I stuck with him and not bagged him out.

I'm still sticking with Ainsworth, but he's testing me hard. Show us something please.

Negative

I may have overstated Branders game as for the life of me I couldn't pick the difference between Brenda and Rotham.

And that was with watching on Fox with a higher definition feed. God knows how people differentiated them on the poverty TV pixellated mess.
I was also getting them confused. Similar build, haircut and facial hair.

Id almost given up on him and in he comes and he looks like a backline general.

Nelson hasn't put a single foot wrong since he's been back into this team.

Ironically since we've been flying with 7 straight wins. Wonder if the nuffs will come out again if we lose.

I believe he's not playing too differently to how he always has. He's always just copped grief for it.

Nelson’s kicking has improved out of site, was always a confidence thing for him IMO. As a previous sponsor, I do take all credit

How surreal is to see him take a lot of kicks out from fullback. So rock-solid and dependable.

A lot of folks keep talking about Roth as the Hurn replacement. I think Jacko is the one who is getting more of Bunga's roles.

Without dwelling on all the points both good and bad, with a full critique, suffice to say, it was a great win, best summarised by a couple of sentences.

Yeo, Duggan and Waterman out, Sheed, Kelly and Shuey quieter than normal.

Yet we still won comfortably.

Why.

There is a pleasing evenness with this current team/list that’s starting to emerge.
That puts us is good steed going forward, in unprecedentedly difficult circumstances with a compromised season.

Team depth is what’s going to win this years Premiership, who is able to do this best will win the Cup.

We are a good chance.

Note: well spotted RookiePick with the spelling mistake. Brilliant comeback with your post. 🤠 👍

Brander was better.

Still has a long way to in developing a consistently AFL standard attack on the contest, but it was better. That 1v1 win was quality in the last quarter.

Im loving the hardness the team has found since the 3rd quarter of the Cats game. No longer content to zone off when the oppo has the ball and wait for the long bomb into D50, we're now actively pressuring the ball carrier and forcing them to make errors in transition.

This. This is the way.

100%

We hunted in packs forcing turnovers. Laid a few crunching tackles too.

Maintaining that sort of intensity across the board will hopefully minimise the impact of Yeo's absence.

Nah he's way more composed and less...slippy.

I have been hoping for this kid to prove the doubters wrong but I'm afraid I have lost my enthusiasm. Where do you see him going with his football, half as good as Priddis perhaps ?
