News Positives and Negatives.

[Alpha1]

Ok first off I cant see the game only heard a little bit of it on the net, but my impressions are that we had a few positives and negatives from this game.

Positives

1. Irish -5 Goals in a team that got hammered is a great effort.

2. Gibbs - 31 possessions under extreme pressure from Collingwood.

3. We managed to get back into the game after all hope was gone in that third quarter.

4. Betts tried after a quite first half.

Negatives

Going to sleep for long periods of the game, cannot hope to win games when you keep making the same mistakes.

Still have players who are very average under pressure.

Tackling count was way in favor of Collingwood, not sure if it evened up in the end.

Last 5 minutes of quarters are killing us, we keep letting teams back into the contest.

We still have a long way to go, still young and learning and we can't let 3 or 4 players carry the burden.

JR getting injured.

Anything else from people who went to the game? Or watched it on TV?

Setanta - Great game

Negatives

Not helping their team mates out when they're under pressure.

Standing out of the pack waiting for the umpire to blow the whistle.

Not tackling or running back hard enough.

I tell you what you will never see me on here talking on about umpiring but we got f$%ked in the arse today with 2 fists, the AFL need to really look at the this game and people need to be sacked.

Can't blame the umpires, I don't care if it's Carlton fans or the opposition who complain about umpires. The truth is we played 20 minutes of football and the rest of the time we are asleep, or lazy says a lot about the players we have on our list.

- Kreuzer got killed by Jolly, (Kudos to Jolly his a bloody good ruckman)
- we got killed in the center clearences
- poor coaching (Judd starting outside the center, we waited too long to put him back in, instruction to move it on quickly instead of slow tempo footy didn't come soon enough, Gibbs needed to go in the center earlier)
- poor team selections (Waite should've came in, Bower looked under done/out of form)
- A few players not prepared to take a hit when its their turn or put their head over the footy
- Giving away the football needlessly
- Henderson needs to go back to VFL to find form
- Tackling wasn't good enough
- Left it to too few again
- Gartlett was M.I.A today



Positives
- Judd absoloutely superb
- Jacobs = better ruckman than kreuzer....really impressed with him
- Russel really stepped up I thought
- Murphy was class
- Ability to fight back was impressive
- Sentanta was superb
- Joseph was solid
- Lucas was impressive yet showed his inexperience at times

Fev was a cancer at Carlton, I would much rather a young kid like Hendo with no issues, than a w***er like Fev in the side, BR stop making yourself look like a tool.

-Getting back into the contest when getting smashed

- White and Lucas's constant endeavour across the halfback line

- Jacobs better in the ruck than Warnock

- Sertanta playing his guts out when guys who were practically born with a footy in their hands can't hold a mark or slot a goal

Negatives:

- Total capitualtion after fighting back so hard - lack of mental toughness or suitable game plan aside from the ******* 'hold the ball in the air' bollocks.

- Houla is still a pansy and the luckiest guy in the AFL. Again does nothing when the pressure is on and opposition are quality

- Henderson is 'the man who wasn't there', and McClean really didn't show anything today.

- Outcoached and outclassed. Their midfield works harder than any, and Malthouse has redesigned their forward line. Pies should be odds on favourite for the flag, even if they had a few injuries, Malthouse has all the right pieces in place, moreso than Geelong or St.Kilda at this stage.

However once again Ratten got outcoached and Hendo stunk.

Last year we won 13 games that is our minimum this year, lets see what happens.

Just got home from the game, disappointed with what i saw (minus the first 20 mins of the 3rd).

Negatives..

- Turnovers (do my head in)
- Disposing of the ball to a direct team mate under pressure
- McLean (pathetic today, too slow and lazy) How did Hadley go in the 2's ????????
- Henderson, im a fan of his, but a spell in the 2's may be a confidence boost, not marking well and his disposal and decision making is either too slow or rushed.
- Backline, too many times they play to far behind, over estimate their closing speed.
- Midfield defensive pressure...including making tackles stick
- The last 5 minutes of every quarter, this shutdown crap is so un nerving
- Players didnt look hungry this week, looked lazy at times
- Waite not coming in.
- The relative ease at which collingwood forwards constantly found space


Positives..

Judd, Gibbs, Jacobs, Simpsons games
Irish. First 5 goal haul...well done, could have had 6-7
Russell, feel confident when he has the ball in defense, uses it well now
Lucas, showed a bit
Joseph, shut down Davis who usually fires against us.

I think the umpires have been sht this year but i thought today they were ok.Didnt really notice them.

We lost fair and square to a better side today, but I will reserve special criticism for Umpire #23 Rob Findlay for watching Irish get slung out of a marking contest in full view 30m away and thinking that was perfectly acceptable.

Rob Findlay, you are a tool.

1) Still managed to kick 16 goals against a pretty good defence that is backed up by its midfield
2) Setanta and his little helpers did enough up the ground to keep us all interested
3) JR. He has made it
4) Jacobs - That's his spot and not Warnocks
5) JUDD!!!!!

Negatives

1) Turnovers
2) Couldn't sustain the effort
3) Need a stronger bodies backman to play on the gorilla's. wheres Mick Martyn?

The only positive is Chris Judd. Other than that, your club is a rabble and your players are D graders at best. Oh and lol @ Mclean for a first round pick.

Murphy would be your best midfielder by a street.

Swan wasn't half as good as Murphy at 23 years of age.

And come back to us once Wellingham and Didak learn to tackle and put their head over the ball.

They just shirked contact all day long.

I'd rather have Mclean than Cameron Wood.
