I seen this on other Team boards, Early talk about Players who you like and could be drafted by collingwood.

I have heard 3 would be good.

1-Steele SideBottom:
Excaly what we need a Young Inside Midfielder who will put his head over the football and win the football on the ground.

2:
Steve Gaertner:
Just sounds like a Player that Hine would pick. Athletic Freak and He is 196-198 CM so he can Play KPP and even Ruck.

3:Mathew Do Boer:
Just heard he is a Great User of the ball and doing very well over in WA

What pick numbers have we got?
No one knows and we wont until we know where we finsih.

its also way to early to name players right now as he carnival hasnt even finished, yes some players may sound good but right now. I'd say most of us (bar Vinnie and trs) would have no idea except he said she said type stuff.

Also last i checked we are still in the eight, unlesss we have an epic fial we will make the eight so why think of drafting now? especially specific players

Oh OK, I thought the draft positions must have been decided already

Sidebottom would be our ideal first pick and should be around our first pick as well.

Gaertner isn't a great kick and while DoBoer gets alot of it his disposal is isn't that good.

Zharakis also looks like a in and under type we might go after. All depends on what pick we get but our first rounder must be used on the best in and under midfielder available.

i dont know players name as i havent piad any attention to the under 18s this year.

But i want us to pick the ebst availaible player be it midfielder or wahetevr with our first pick, there after you can make positional choices but first pick should always be the very best player available at that point

I know it's only early days with big Anthonys' injury, but surely this will have a massive influence on who we draft. Our club does not have a full forward anymore. Some prospects/chances, but nothing to write home about ATM.

Draft players who can kick. Don't care if there's some guy who can run 100m in 10 seconds, run all day and is 190cm.

I'd prefer a 180cm guys with average speed who can kick a ____ing footy and goes hard.

Well i don't think De Boer is your man then. While his kicking has improved from last year, it is still pretty average. Finds alot of the ball though. Will be a great pick if he can fix his kicking.

I deffinately think Sidebottom is what we need. Great kick, finds the pill and pace is pretty solid and he can run.

Could we Trade up in the 1st Round because we most likely have a late 1st Rounder - So could we trade up?

No doubt about that. With Burnsy close to retirement our focus needs to be on a tough in and under midfielder. Burnsy was that from day one.

no burns was the fiercest of all back pockets from the beginning took at least one season more like two until they moved him to the midfield

Isn't that McCarthy was drafted for?

I would.... since we are likely to get a pick 10-16, I would trade our 1st rounder AND a player like Josh Fraser or a R Shaw for a pick in the top 3 if any club was willing to accept.

if we wanna go for a typical in and under ball winner we should look at someone like luke shuey from oakleigh chargers. Quality player who will be available with possiblyoour second round.
Have also heard were super keen on lynch from sandringham.

Sam Blease Midfielder 182cm
Eastern 19/02/1991 70kg
Blease was one of the leading midfielders at the 2007 NAB AFL Under-16 Championships, averaging 19 disposals per game. His disposal efficiency of 83% was elite and he showed an ability to read the play by winning the equal third-most loose ball gets of any division one player. He scored 5 goals at the carnival and also averaged 3 clearances and four inside 50s.

That does sound like a player we do need but he Sounds very light bodied at 70kg
