i hope we get david zaharakis... kid sounds like a gun.. runs 2.94 for 20 mtr sprint is a natural leader... kicks goals.. and meant to be quite hard at it..

anyone know much about this kid? is he a potential in under/clearnce type player?anyone kknow any other stats on him?

I think we should definatley try to get Prismall

We need a touch of class because atm only Pendlebury really has it in our midfield

Prismall= 2nd round pick OR Egan and 3rd round

Also heard about a guy called Strauss, plays for Oakleigh, heard he could fall late 1st round and is a classy mid

1st pick - Inside midfielder who can kick.
2nd pick - Best available midfielder who can kick.
3rd pick - Best avilable midfielder or KP backman
4th Pick - Project ruckman
5th Pick - Scott Reed

Get a project ruckman and another KP player or two with upside in the rookie draft.

so what type of player is hanneberry
Athletic HBF/mid. ChipDouglas is a big fan, and would be able to tell you more. He'll also tell you I'm being wildly optimistic suggesting a 3rd rounder, and he's right. Maybe we can upgrade a pick through trade.
1st pick - Inside midfielder who can kick.
2nd pick - Best available midfielder who can kick.
Steele Sidebottom, centre, bottom-aged for Murray, 20 kicks on the weekend against Calder, 19 effective. 11 handballs, 9 effective. BOG. :thumbsu:

The exact player I've been keeping an eye on actually :thumbsu:

He can win some clearances too from what I hear. He's 'my kid' for the draft, so to speak.

Hopefully will be around when our first pick comes into play.

I would doubt he would last to out pick:(

Natanui
Watts
Rich
Hurley
Hartlett
Yarran

All of them will certainly go ahead of Steele I'd suspect. atm I expect Collingwood have have a pick around the 10 mark, so it's a possibility. McKernan, Trangrove (altough he may slide due to injury) Ziebell, SUban, Heyne, De Boer, Swift will be there abouts too.

Those with Hine you wouldn't have a Clue what he is thinking and how he will draft

We do know that Hine has a preference for bottom-aged Victorians. Sidebottom ticks both boxes.

What about Roughead?

Jordan Roughead has been doing alright, plays for North Ballarat Rebels, named in the bests in 50% of his TAC Cup matches this season. Judging by his stats, and I have nothing else to go on, he's a ruckman-cum-forward. Kicking efficiency doesn't look flash, but some of our seasoned TAC Cup watchers will tell us that these stats aren't always reliable and players shouldn't be canned on that basis alone.

Unless we do something outside the square, like trade Fraser, I can't see us being interested in a ruckman this year. We've got Fraser, Wood, and Bryan, and we'll have Keeffe developing in the VFL next year as well.

We've got bigger issues to address than ruck this time round: midfield for one.

Two mids who excel at clearances and kick the ball well ought to be our top priority. Another key defender with a bit of extra size would be nice too (though I still wonder if, in time, Reid won't develop into a CHB).

wouldnt be to fussed about Roughead
there is a lot of talent this year - the top 10 are very good but after that my view is that it is pretty even.
height looks like it will be plentiful as well as the in/under mid types.
couple i am keeping my eye on are Shannon from SA, Zaharkis from Vic and Jetta from WA. They are a couple of the kids that are really coming along nicely. Cornelius from Tas v good but is dropping in rankings to about where we might be able to nab him so keep an eye on him.

Does anyone think that Jackson Trengove's injury could see him slide to our 2nd round pick?

If so, I'd snap him up as a KP defender, and look at mids again in the 3rd round. He might be considered a Chris Dawes style bargain, although his injury isn't as severe. It just means that unlike Dawes, he'll miss the whole of the National Champs, keeping him a little under the radar.

1st - Steele Sidebottom
2nd - Jackson Trengove
3rd - Dan Hannebery
4th - Ben Cousins :D
5th - Scott Reed

Would absolutely love it if this happened, but almost no chance IMO. A chance for the first and last, but the middle three are very wishful thinking...

Post some Video's of Players from u-18 Champs Shortly on Youtube:)

I don't know squat about the U18s players coming through, but from what I've heard, I'd be very happy with Sidebottom and the list above.

I agree with Reed and I think we'd need to use, at least our 3rd rounder to get Ben Cousins.

Which leaves 2nd rounder (about 25-30 overall) probably a speculative pick?Possibly an injured player under the radar. Last 2 years we've taken Dawes (pick 28 off a knee reco) & McCarthy (pick 31 off Ostetis Pubis). Both probably would have gone higher if not injured. Probably another Mid given our love of rotating about 10 players through the middle.

Which means our 1st 3 picks would all be midfielders?

Very early still, and I haven't seen many of these guys, but you just know that Hine is going to be looking predominately at bottom-aged Victorian kids.

With that in mind, I'd say Sidebottom and Ziebell are two we'd be looking very closely at. Ziebell trained with us as part of the AIS program in the off-season. Nick Heyne is another with the elite skills we need, but probably more outside than the former two. Others that interest me include Hannebery, Sloane and on the smaller side Banner and Hooper.

These are all mids, I would like to see us pick up another tall key back with an early pick.

Chip, Snoop and Vinnie are all far more knowledgeable than I on these kids though.
After yesterday getting to see some of these kids running around, I would say that Hooper has dropped a little in my estimations, probably too short for AFL. I was impressed with Ziebell, Banner and to a lesser extent Sidebottom. Hartlett was amazingly good, and I'm jumping on board Snoop's Jay Shannon bandwagon, he looks a real prospect. :thumbsu:

I wonder about Bryn Weadon, a 19 yr-old who Vinnie mentioned earlier as a ball magnet. We've taken chances on top/overage players before, like Goldsack and Barham. Obviously he won't feature in the U18's, so he might be one for a later pick or rookie spot?
