I agree, but with Rusling having a contract until the end of 2009, it's very unlikely to happen.

Most likely outcome is that they all sit on our list, miss out on opportunities because we have Rusling/Dawes/Reid sitting behind Trav/Rocca in the pecking order, we continue to get smashed out of the ruck and around the ground with Stretch/Bryan backing Josh up, and our midfield does what it's always done before picking up the pension cheque.

Time to dose up on the Prozac, Sampler? :D

I think there's merit in the idea of trading Rusling.

LOL. I'm an advocate of aggressive trading to fill deficiencies in your list, which is the polar opposite of the Pies' powers-that-be. I don't want our relative strength of KPPs to be to the detriment of our great weakness, which is ruck and midfield.

It frustrates me watching us sit on our hands when players such as Simmonds go to Richmond for virtually nothing. I'm liking what Hine's doing with our picks, but if we don't address the ruck (and to a lesser extent, midfield) problem this off-season, it's going to be very hard to get excited about 2008 and beyond.

Rusling is one of the most athletic players on our list. No way. Trade #26. Im sick of him. Has a good few years and then plays like shite. Then` releases his anger on Other players..... Not on.

Okay, let's say our forwards come on nicely, our backs including Anthony and Brown come on as expected, and Pendlebury, Thomas, Clarke, Stanley, Cook and Wellingham make a strong midfield. It's going to be too late to recruit a decent ruckman, because they take several years to reach the elite in the competition.

We have to plan NOW so that they can be peaking in time with the rest of our list.

Another gun mid would always be handy, of course.

I think Ben johnson could be up for trade along with Holland i think we could get something decent for johnson dont know about holland though.

So that Guy is then our number 1 ruckman???? Think before posting. Unless we trade fraser for charman or seaby, no.
There's a thought, could we trade Josh to WC as a forward option (something they lack) for a ruck??

Could but i doubt it we would want seaby any something else for josh they would rather a proper forward then a forward/ruckman

Guy is just as good a ruckman as josh.

Keep guy and bryan for another year play them in the ruck.

Trade fraser for something and at the draft table start drafting some ruckmen for a change.

He's out of contract and has quit the leadership group, i can see us moving him on.

I really rate Rusling but... he is not essential to our game plan. We have that many options up forward and although he complements them, we are never going to have him an the nomber one option.

A ruckman and inside midfielder though are essential.

On that logic - and knowing that you need to offer something of value (not lonie) - I would consider trading him and Davis (another great player who brings pace and great skills but IMO not essential)

Rusling to stay.

Licuria Gone

Johnson Gone

Richards Gone

Toovey Gone

Pebbles slowly going... I like the presence he creates, but he kicks them when they dont count.

Wether he is the most athletic or not is irrelevant to what he offers to our structure and as blobben said he is a complementary type player. Dawes and Cloke will play the key foward roles. As i have said Rusling is not tall big or strong enough to play as the Key fowrard nor is his contested marking good enough. We would have a strong fowardline if dawes reid cloke continue to develop rusling would add to that strength but is the least important.

Trading josh is a joke. Trading johnson for a second round pick in a weak draft is a joke, he is reportadly carrying an injury this year and is a great line breaking run and carrier of the ball when going which is something that we really need

Rusling is young has great athletism and will be a great player but he is not a structural key and therefore should be treated as a player that is on offer to trade if the price is right and we are adding to a structural key

Lets see how Rusling goes before we ship him off, I really like the kid has alot of potential

I hope he stays and becomes a dominant forward

How about showing some loyalty guys? Josh and Ben are part of our leadership group. You don't trade players from your leadership group. Pick on someone else.

Josh quit the leadership group ages ago, but i certainly wouldnt trade him

trading Rusling is a joke. the guy is gonna be a gun. I swear half the people on this board dont watch the games, just read the stats.
Rusling is very strong, has a strong lead and takes a good mark. Id rate him ahead of Reid easily.

as far as i am concerned, none of the youngsters (except toovey) should be trade bait

ditch (in order of uselessness and value): Licuria, Rocca, Holland,

thats what id take to the table

for the right price everybody is tradeable. I would think not as things stand at the moment. perhaps rusling for meeson? BUt i would much rather get charman, maybe a three way trade with picks and players might secure it
