just wait til Freddy reads this. :p

on Murdoch im really torn whether he is good enough for our 22, but hey our recruiters would know better than me.
also how would channel 9 have any idea what the trade will be given geelong and the crows are keeping things very quiet?
He is definitely worthy of our best 22.

We will match. Anybody that thinks were not is a fool or a pig headed vic. Seriously what have we got to lose??? Pick 14.. We are losing our best midfielder and must make a stand. Pick 9 and murdoch isnt a good enough deal. **** off back to the trade table geelong and all your bullshit journo mates saying we wont match are full of shit.

I just had a thought.

We don't match, take the compo pick.

Then we trade Mackay for pick 9.

Geelong - Dangerfield + Mackay
Adelaide - pick 14 and 9

What do you think? We get two first rounders PLUS we get rid of Dmac's overpaid contract. I'd be very tempted ...

Mackay for pick nine and Murdoch. Look on Scotts face would be priceless

Not going to bite. Been over it a million times over the years. But I did enjoy him being criticised for recruiting Kurt Tippett .. Classic

It can the problem with the Ryder compo was that he actually had 2 years left on his contract and essendon were trying to manufacture a compo pick by ripping up his contract.

Nothing stopping us taking the compo and doing a side deal with Geelong it's happened before.
The proposed side deal is way too lop-sided though and has to be to relevant in the first place.

May as well try to give them Wright for pick 9, won't happen, AFL won't approve it.

Yes it was a no match scenario - but we can't then get anything in trade for danger. If he goes as a free agent and we accept compo that is it, nothing more can happen. If we match, the compo pick is completely off the table.
Urgh. Your lack of understanding is infuriating.

I agree. Has this board gone mad! Pick 9 + a B grader is not good enough

There's not going to be a compo pick, it's going to be a straight up and down trade. If Geelong doesn't want to let a player go, then it's going to be a pair of first round picks as the core of the deal, no 1st round downgrades or upgrades, no lumping off players you don't want for fanciful deals that don't meet the test.

All that's happening right now is Geelong trying to find a way out of giving up both of those picks, and/or a player they want to keep, and as Sanders has said bring in a top tier free agent for a wage below market value, for free, having their cake and eating it too. It's not possible for all of those things to happen, and we need to ignore the bleating of the AFLPA until Geelong accepts that, and the real deal can go ahead.

Care to explain how?

in 1 way bloody kingy was talking it up on the couch with the switching of 1st rd picks involved in a legal dodgy deal.

he proposed
danger for compo #14

then the AFC and GFC have a gentleman's agreement to trade gregson and 9 for lyons/wright/C grader and 13.

Only way I see we don't match is:

We get compo pick, they get danger
We get their pick 9, they get makay
We get their 2016 first rounder, they get wright.

If the afl and Geelong would sign on that. I wouldn't match .

I agree in regards to making a stand but will it make a difference in the future? And can we afford to not take the compo pick given we are making up ground from the sanctions? I'm weighing up whether I'd rather keep a plodder and make a statement or take the pick and recruit or trade in a potential a grader.
