So Geelong give up Pick 9 and next years first round pick.
Carlton lose Henderson and Menzel and get Geelong's next years first round pick Lyons and Kerridge
Adelaide give up Danger, Lyons and Kerridge for Pick 9 and Henderson and Menzel
Geelong trade second round pick to WC for Selwood.
Lock it in .
Looks alright, but the question for me is would Carlton really want one or both of Lyons and Kerridge.

We'd want to trade in some serious midfield firepower if we accept that deal.

It's all well and good getting a KPD (Henderson) and a promising half forward (Menzel), but we also need some grunt to replace Dangerfield in the center

Bennell would go a long way to ensuring Freo stay in the premiership hunt next year (assuming they also manage to recruit McCarthy or someone similar).

100% agree, if Pavlich plays on for another year then a forward line with Pavlich, Taberner, McCarthy, Ballantyne, Walters and even the ugliest bloke in the comp Mayne is very very damaging. Add Bennell with Hill on the outside and they'll be easy top 4 again (unfortunately)

I could imagine the sighing if we were linked to Toumpas. I'm sure people would love us picking up somebody who was dropped by Melbourne.
I would look at it as a young kid with upside coming from a shit program that addresses the need! I am not so much concerned with Toumpas himself but Port's ability to attract guns 2 years in a row in Ryder and Dixon without losing any key players. We seem to lose one every couple of years. This shit has to stop!

Why would Carlton want 2 of our fringe players?

Yep it's bloody depressing!!

Well they gave up a first and second round pick for Ryder who still has the possibility of a 2-year ban hanging over his head. Would you trade Lever and Wigg for Ryder right now?

We don't know what they'll trade for Dixon yet so I don't know how you can comment on what they had to give up for him.

This time last year people were all up in a flap that Gorringe nominated Port.

Well if players don't nominate you good luck trading for them (box hill fringe players excluded)

Facts are Port have had a host of players wanting to be traded to them and no one wanting out.

We have had a perfect storm of unbelievably good players wanting out and not much coming back the other way. It sucks massively and we really need to do something special this trade period.

The easiest thing to do is burry the head in the sand and bring in all the possible negatives no matter how far fetched they are. For starters people have been talking about 2 year bans for 3 years now. You can bookmark it now, no player from Essendon will get a 2 year ban. This is a political game more so than people take it on the face value. There is no way in hell AFL allows it! No way! At worst players will get a slap on the wrist but none of this fanciful 2 year bans that I keep hearing about. If the case was so straight forward they would have copped that penalty with the first ruling.

Secondly, Port's picks we later than our so this Lever and Wigg argument is absolute rubbish so let's deal with facts as they stand now:

Ryder is a gun player. Port got him for a 1st and 2nd round pick. That is a fair deal for a gun player. Forget Ryder the name but think of purely talent, I would trade pick 17 and whatever their 2nd round pick for a tall player in his prime that has the talent of Ryder.

Now on to Dixon. A supremely talented key forward that has had trouble staying on the park but if you search through my post history from earlier in the year, this is the guy I wanted us to go after. He is a gun when he is on the park. I suspect the trade will be similar to Ryder trade but that's me speculating but I would do that trade all day every day for a talented key forward that you can build a forward line around.

Then there is Polec. When up and running, wouldn't he be a bloody nice to have on the wing in our side? People will bag him for being injury prone but in the same breath talk about how great a player Brad Crouch is and how he is our replacement for Dangerfield. Bit of hypocrisy going on there.

Fact is for 2 years in a row, we are seeing 2 guns nominating Port Adelaide as their club of choice, meanwhile we are having a pissing contest with Geelong about what Dangerfield is worth. When was the last time that Port Adelaide lost a key player from their side that they did not want to lose? Nick Stevens? Meanwhile we manage to lose a whole ****ing spine (Davis-Bock-Dangerfield-Gunston-Tippett). That shit has to stop! Draw a line in the sand and make a strong stance one and for all.

Bottom line is that Port managed to attract guns without losing guns. We've attracted some guns, Eddie being the most recent one but we also lost guns. At the end of the day, we lost more than we got while Port got more than they lost. That is a major difference!

The AFL have absolutely no control over the outcome, none. They are out of their league for once and the result will be interesting.

Toumpas apparently off to Port now too. Again we play second fiddle in the market to the Power.

A second rounder in an apparently average draft for a kid with Toumpas' upside is a steal.

Don't rate Curtly Hampton?
Would have Hampton every day of the week over Toumpas. That said, he's the sort of guy that may benefit from being home.
