atleast here, despite posting my photo, there is still a realm of anonymity - On your facebook, it's connected with your name and a whole heap of other identifying material...

You guys know my name is Jake - But that is it... I'd be really suprised if you could garner anymore information about me...

I don't want my face connected with my posts on here. Not that there's anything particularly bad, but I've made 10,000+ of them and there's bound to be some embarassing stuff in there. Mostly from the Bay I suspect.

I use facebook as a tool for shallow social interaction only. Sharing things with friends/family, organising events and the like.

On this board, I enjoy having the freedom to share things that I wouldn't be comfortable having every one of my facebook friends know about. It's nothing bad or embarrassing, I guess I just enjoy having some of my life private. I want people to have to get to know me to actually know me, not just a quick facebook stalk.

This might sound weird, but there's a photo on my facebook where I'm sitting on the beach with a girl who looks EXACTLY like porksy. I'm almost 100% sure it's the same person.

Yeah true, 11,000 posts in 2.5 years is pretty bad. To be honest I don't think any of my friends would bother looking for embarassing crap or even really care about my online activities. Posting on forums doesn't even come close to some of the crap I did on the internet during my high school years. Now THAT was embarassing.

Except on Facebook you can have the private setting, so only your family & close friends can access it.

Well most of my mates know all about it so I guess there's no harm in sharing. Most of it was pretty harmless TBH. The cringiest one for me is making a 'bodybuilding' website on tripod/geocities when I was 14 which basically involved me posting a whole bunch of cocky catchphrases and Ronnie Coleman quotes and just generally being a douchebag, without ever actually posting pictures of myself (and thank God) Another one was when I was 13 and posting on Australian Idol forums and then moved onto a Cosima Fan Forum (don't ask) I'm pretty sure that website is still up somewhere but I can't find it, nor do I want to. Basically I would make stupid girly fan photos of Cosima for whatever reason and had a love affair with some girl online. Actually I had quite a few online loves during my early teens, which is quite cringey in itself.

The worst one by far is another tripod/geocities website I made. Basically I made myself an alias (I think it was along the lines of 'Richie Valentine') and would post up photos of 'cartoon pr0n' That is I would draw pictures of odd sexual acts in MS paint and upload them onto a tripod website which I believe was called something like 'Richie Valentine's Emporium of Cartoon pr0n' or similar (can't find it) The MS paint drawings were crudely drawn but they were very graphic and eventually evolved into beastiality. Not sure what was happening there, but this was also when I was 14 (what a year!)

I'm probably completely wrong, but it seems you're right into forums, or not into them at all. I'm on a music one at the moment, but I made a few posts on three or four other forums, before they were deleted or I got bored. Mostly Arsenal, TV shows, and band forums. Most of my mates think they're completely weird and just don't get it, though.

The Aus Idol one I got into because nobody else was into it at the time and as a 13 year old I enjoyed discussing it with strangers. I guess it just evolved from there. I've actually met a few people from that forum IRL (later on, not as a 13 year old) and it just evolved from there. Eminem forum, Oz Hip Hop forum (you can still see some of my 'freestyle' battles on there) Simpsons forum.

Not so much anymore. I post on BF regularly, I have a misc account but don't post, only like browsing there for the lulz. And I post/read reddit. I guess I just find them entertaining but there's plenty of genuinely informative and interesting stuff I've come across too.

Personally I am suprised many people have posted their photos. Especially porksy who is a girl (or at least we think she is ). Not so much that she's a girl but some of the stuff she's posted in other threads (lulz at "bean queen") and the fact someone might recognize her and know exactly what goes on in her personal life. What I do know is that I'm pretty skeptical that the picture posted is her for a number of reasons.

This is the only forum I've used since I joined. I only joined because the previous footy forum (cokefooty) or some crap closed down. To be honest, I do more embarrassing things in real life than in here, so this stuff is all pretty tame in comparison. The worst thing I've done online was getting in trouble in year 7 for printing off 300 copies of dragonball z pr0n and leaving them around school.

Also, may have pioneered cyber bullying.
