Thoughts

Strong Backline.. Possibly missing one premium defender but if Adcock and cornes both get their form back you're laughing..

Three keeper mids, Griffen a bit of a risk because he is always meant to be breaking out each year but then just averages around 80. Could be a risk, it would only take downgrading say, Brennan and upgrading to a keeper, because i'm not sold on Brennan either... Each to their own though, its the unique players that win it, as well as the guns of course!

OK, on the sage advice of those in the thread I've spent some of my leftover dosh to turn a risk (Giansiracusa) into as sure a thing as there is (Boomer). I also got cold feet on Ryan Griffen who I dearly love as an AFL footy player, but just seems to miss out sometimes... so I've turned him into Axe Foley!

Here's the line-up right now:

Defenders: Goddard, Newman, C Cornes, Malceski, Houlihan, Raines (S Hill, Suban)

That should be 3 keepers, 1-2 who could be if their form/selection/role allows, and rookies to punt on.

Midfielders: Bartel, Judd, Gibbs, Foley, Masten, Rich (Robinson, Swift)

Two blue-chippers and two guys (Gibbs and Foley) who I believe will score like blue-chippers this season. The rest are quality youngsters who hopefully get the game time to show their stuff.

Rucks: Cox, Ottens (White, Jacobs)

Cox - duh. Ottens seems like value, but I hate not having Hamish McIntosh, because I think he's a sensational talent. It's just the questions over what the hell will Laidley do that hold me back. Someone sell me on Big H, already! I need a push. White is a likely backup, and Jacobs is dirt cheap who *may* get a go at Carlton, cos all our other rucks are pants.

Forwards: Harvey, Pavlich, Deledio, Lucas, Higgins, Skipworth, Ziebell (Gumbleton, T Walker)

So that's gun-gun-gun, cash-cash-cash, rookie-rookie-rookie. This area will make or break the team (and many others) this year, you'd think.

Still got $150k to turn a risk into something else. These teams are starting to look similar, but anyone got the cherry to put on top of this beautiful cake?

Interesting to note quite a few people talking about and going with the 3-3-1-3 strategy.

Looking at my team I currently have a 4-4-2-3 lineup, and yet the players making up the rest of the team are pretty much the same guys everyone is talking about on here eg: Malceski, Raines, Rich, Masten, Higgins, Skipworth, Ziebell.

Are people spending too much on emergencies such as Hill and Grimes to be sitting on the bench?? My team also currently has Ablett. Not trying to talk myself up here either, just interested with the preference for the 3-3-1-3 strategy as it only gives you 10 keepers

Fev averaged 85 or so last year, kicked 99 goals.
Riewoldt and Brown - both great scorers, both could do an ankle walking down some steps. Consider Harvey.

W Thompson still rookie listed

Sellar regarded as a donga by most crow posters

Dew for DC? Just dunno about that one... no where near my team, but I am an idiot so take that as you do.

I think one of Goddard, Fisher, Gilbee or Bowden must be in your side, otherwise you could be finished pretty early.

Trengrove has been added to the long term injury list so you might wanna swap him, but it does open a spot for thompson who is a rookie listed player but he will competing with meyer for that spot.

As for sellar I got burned by him last year but the crows need forwards and this is a make or break year for him. I think he sits behind Tippett, Walker and Hentschell (when/if he is fit). But I think most will stay away which could make it a good unique pick or just some dead wood on your rucks bench.

Pretty happy with the backline though undecided regarding Pettard vs Hill.

Stayed away from the most expensive mids hoping they will drop in value at some stage

Ottens and McIntosh are OK

Hale is the risk in the forward line but I think he can kick a few bags as a full time forward. Fevola is a head case and have had him in previous years so will decided as the season progresses as to whether he will be a full time player or a value player to be traded at some stage. Personally I think Riewoldt is overpriced as he dropped below $500k at some stage last year and Pavlich may drop in value at some stage (fingers crossed).

$115k left to spend

Fev and Roughie I don't like - both had great years last year yet both failed to dazzle. 1 or the other, if either. Too many big forwards. Go for the ones that get touches in the midfield any week.

Your rucks suck. Bellchambers is OK but bench at best

would rather you went for goddard over milburn (last year) and anyone over flecther

Ballantyne injured for now.

Wow Shut up Flanders, your team is so revolutionary and different I don't even know where to begin discussing it .

Looks solid, and a lot like mine. Between Birchall, Lucas, Chaps and Drummond there's some iffy injury history - but a lot of scoring potential, too.

I'm a huge Chapman fan, one of my very favourites, but I just really wonder whether his body can still do 22 rounds of footy. I fear the term "chronic" may be used in relation to his hammies this season. Hope I'm wrong.

Im no expert at this but ill give it a shot.

Backs - I think maybe just a little too much risk here. I think there are better, more consistent options than Lake. Chad i think is around the same price give or take a few. I think Hill, Grimes or Hurley would be better options as your last back as well. Drummond is risky but i can see why he's there.

Mids - Maybe one too many uniques here but i like it.

Rucks - Vickery is too much of a risk imo.

Fwds - Solid. Cloke is a little risky but you never know.

Maybe downgrading one of your mids or fwds and upgrading Vickery would be worthwhile. Theres a few mid and fwd cheapies going around.


Here's mine, just a bit of tinkering done. Worked a 4th mid in so i think it was my fwd line that suffered. Thoughts?

• defence looks solid only "?" for me is mackie
• Midfields ok Dal santo theres probablly better options out there

I dont wanna derail the thread, great source of info coz I just entered my first 'supercoach' team ever, never even taken an interest in it until I had a look yesterday and joined, now Im keen, but I gotta ask, is there any advantage/disadvantage to posting youre team here or anywhere? I would of thought the idea is to 'out coach' everyone?

First thing Wade Thompson is a rookie listed player so he may not be available for much of the season even though there is a small term slot available due to trengroves addition to the long term injury list. Coughlan has had knee trouble and given his history a very risky proposition. Porplyzia hasn't started full contact drills but the Crows are confident his shoulder will hold up all year but of course they are gonna say that aren't they.

Squad is significantly different to previous years, gone are Robert Harvey, Nic Riewoldt. Have taken a different approach, and thus far this year i've been able to afford more marquee players across all positions, as opposed to overloading the backline + midfield, and having stuff all salary cap remaining for the rucks and forwards.

I know it's not the topic for it, but my supercoach squad is different to the squad i have for the afl dream team comp. Still have the same marquee players (eg: Hodge, Judd & Franklin), but alternated the rest.


Hope to put in a better showing - had a few good years across the board... but this may be my third straight year where i'll average 1100 - 1500 per round.
