Titus is usually very good, but counting the goal was the correct call. The quarter doesn't actually end until the umpire hears the siren and ends the quarter. If a player kicks the ball as the siren is sounding and it goes through for a goal, it's generally counted, as there might be a short delay between the siren sounding and the umpire ending the quarter. It doesn't happen very often, but it has happened before.
*Cough* Can you please not reality and facts get in the way of our amusement at the Hawkes expense?

If you ever want proof what a bush keague the AFL can be at times, that sirengate fiasco was it.

My understanding was that at Aurora stadium the method for ending a quarter revolved around a work experience kid in the timekeepers' box being told the qtr was over. He would then right 'stop' on a piece of paper, fold it into a paper airplane and throw it at the nearest umpire from 50m away. :p

Look it was a dull game and I wasn’t paying attention. Was just a casual job down here in tassie

I know this thought is a week old now but it's pretty great that this season we've beaten the Giant, Doggies & the Hawks. If we can beat the Pies as well the only thing which would top it is a premiership

giving the cats 22 start heading into the final quarter and running them down at “their” fortress again is right up there as well.
Lloooyyydd first goal kicker and swannies the first winners at Optus...

More than enough sugar to help wash down the medicine of losses to norf and the crows reserves

Also enjoy the clarkson vs sydney thread being closed after clarko flip flopped and apologized.

Really? You are that forgiving and just move on? Have to applaud your temperament I'd say! Me well I'm still incensed that he tried to influence rules in a manipulative way to suit himself and his club. Unforgivable

Tried to? Did.
How long has that been going on?
AFL is corrupt.

This.

See the fact we get just two games at the G this year.

See the fact that Carlton get any Friday night games.

See the fact Gill meets Snarko and changes the rules.

See the fact that Essendon exists.

Gosh this has made me so mad :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

"I talk to Gill once every four to six weeks," Clarkson said.
...
"Gill and I have regular conversations. I’m wanting him to educate me on what goes on in the game. He’s got vast experience in a whole (range) of sports, as well as different aspects of our game that I don't know too much about; and he needs to be educated about things that are going on with players, football, rules.

I think you need to take your sarcasm meter to the shop.

To ensure you receive genuine sarcasm detector parts during a service, we recommend visiting an Authorized sarcasm detector service provider.

Also non-genuine replacement parts may have compromised quality and may fail to detect sarcasm correctly. Authorized repairs repairs are performed by trusted experts who use genuine sarcasm detector parts.

lol I was being genuine. No sarcasm

No idea where to put this as it’s kind of just a random observation. But these injuries have actually opened up a world of opportunities in terms of our depth. On the sidelines are Reid and Melican, as well as some players you could argue are best 22 (Towers, Marsh, Aliir, Newman and Fox.) The good thing is I’d back any of them to come in in a big game or a final and have a good crack, same as McCartin, Ronke etc have done in the senior side when they’ve had their opportunities. There just seems to be a real high standard being expected of the kids/rookies but they’re more than willing to match it. Ruck situation is still a bit of a concern though.

Good on you Kirksy, you are a genius picking Lions and Bombers!
Not really... I haven't thought Hawthorn were playing all that well, and Brisbane were losing but not being blown away. And I figured that Hodge would really want to put on a show for the Hawkes... so I figured that they were due for a win, and Hodge could give them enough inside information for them to be a reasonable chance... so I backed them in and they came through for me.

And Essendon are a good team, they were just playing poorly, much like us with owen last year. And the Cats have been a bit hot and cold for me this year, and their much vaunted midfield hasn't really done it for me. The media crap being pelted at the Bombers has been ridiculous and dragging up every offence from anyone even remotely related to the club has been just disgusting imo. So I figured there was a good chance that Essendon would stand up and fight given all they have been through and survived, and the Cats were due for another cold game. I only picked them to win by 5.

It was nice though :).
