I think you are out with Daniel Hanneberry, George Hewett and Sam Reid for a start.

The very fact that Rohan gets picked week after week indicates that he is performing his role. His stats remain unchanged for the most part, so it it indicates to me that we simply don't have a good enough understanding of what he is being asked to do, rather than him not being good enough to play ones.

This, imo, reflects poorly on us rather than him.

I'd take McGovern.
When he plays he has a presence few players have, other than Buddy, Ablett, Danger & Dusty, but this guy is a defender. A bit like Shane Warne, even a shit ball turned into a good ball because his presence made the opposition have to change the way they would bat.
McGovern patrols that backline to the point that you have to go into the game with a game plan centered around stopping him.

That's who we need down the other end opposite to Buddy & we increase our chances of winning a p'ship 10 fold IMO.

Get McGovern whatever it costs & if we must lose a 'good' player, then so be it.McGovern would make a difference.
I don't know how, maybe front load a 6 year deal giving him $1.4M in his first year to help make the move better & then 800K for each of the next 3 years, when some of our other players' contracts are up for renewal, & then in years 5 & 6, when Buddy is done, give him $1.1M each year.
That's $6M for 6 years which is less than what others are offering & the $1.4M up front & $1.1M finish will scare away clubs from matching it.

Just a scenario which may get the job done. I mean, $1.4M we will have with Tippo's contract done & Macca & a few others done.

Make him a Swan I say.

Agree that he is a gun Ted. Id love him to be a swan. Do you really think we might have $1.4m free? Without Tippett, Mcveigh and lloyd...... possibly.

I hate spending too much on one player.......constantly forces you into Mitchell scenarios in the following years and we have some serious talent rising through the ranks now. Fortunately I don't have to make those list management decisions.

I don't believe the figures people are talking about.
Hawks don't pay overs for players. what's good for them may be good for us too.

Honestly would we have one of the worst midfields in the comp?

Not far off

Our midfield useage makes no sense to me, like who we use for Centre bounces sometimes mid game I’m like how did you come up with those 3, eg hanners playing like shit (he is a winger in my opinion)

Our midfield is certainly better on paper right now\
Kennedy is an elite warrior- but he has declined , still great but he is understandably beyond his peak
Parker- he is a good player but his skillls are shit really, a warrior but think he needs a better midfielder to run alongside and if kennedy is down a bit he is expose

Hanners- has been a star but right now not afl standard]
Heeney- the hype is higher than performance really let’s be honest
Hewett- tagger- can win the ball, but his job is to negate not win us the game and I don’t see it changing much]

Then others running through

Ronke- raw more of a forward
Jones seems to be a back to horse
Mills- injured and seems to be a back to horse
Lloyd a lock as a back for horse
Rohan - can’t do shit in the middle
Papley- not a midfielder imo, play forward
Cunningham - more a back, but doesn’t impact a game
Florent future star but he is in and out of games

Hmm maybe it’s not that good

Buddy is arguably a better midfielder than most of those

I forgot jack, well he’s cooked

Ronke is the only real genuine pace there, maybe Jones

I think we need Jones to become a midfielder in the centre

We have two really good ones in Parker and Kennedy. Hewett is tagging for some ******* reason. Apart from that no one note worthy except Heeney who's injured.

Hewett may be tagging but is still being a great 3rd mid option given his development. Averaging 7 clearances last 6 weeks.

2005 GF I remember Tiger winning a contest on defensive 50, gathering, and running the ball down the wing. Ended up in the forward pocket.

The roar from the crowd on that play is one of my best memories of Tiger, and the most underrated bit of excitement in all my years following footy.

I hope Cor gives us more of that action!

He will in the first week and then will either get dropped for it or have it very quickly stomped out of his game and be taught how to high bomb down the line and slow play down like a boss.

'carb rinsing' Does this happen in the AFL?
https://www.businessinsider.com.au/what-is-carb-rinsing-2018-7

The article mentions a few research articles - but with small sample sizes.

this could be a fitness technique called “carb rinsing.” Drinking a lot of water can lead to bloating, so it makes sense for players to wash their mouths out without swallowing if they are feeling dry. But carb rinsing is where you wash your mouth out deliberately with a carbohydrate solution, which essentially tricks your body into performing better.
It works by receptors in the mouth sensing the carbs and sending signals to the pleasure and reward centres of the brain, saying there is more energy on the way. This makes the muscles work harder, without the negative effects of carbohydrate drinks like stomach heaviness and cramps.
...
David Ferguson, an assistant professor of exercise physiology at Michigan State, told the NY Times that rinsing seems to help players feel less fatigued and enhances their attention – something that is very important after more than 90 minutes of play.
Rather than making them run faster or kick harder, “it’s simply going to maximise their focus so that they are not succumbing to fatigue, so they can put themselves in the right position to make the right play,” Ferguson said.

10 minutes in the last quarter for the Swans 2018 GF would help :p

Go the Red and White..... and Blue!!!!
Completely off topic and in wrong forum but GO CROATIA!!!! Only thing making today better after Swans fantastic win would be the double up in the World Cup tonight.

With Aliir, Melican, COR , Rampe and Jones in defence ( maybe Moore) surely it means Mills in 19 will be a full time midfielder

We need him in the middle imo

Him or Jones, maybe both if LlOyd stays
