yeah, one of them being jack de belin
you'd think after being hit in the quoit with several rainbows he'd be one idiot determined to keep his head down and avoid anything that would bring any negative attention
but no ...
armed with his newfound maturity and good intentions he was apparently hiding under a bed when the cops turned up

Mind boggling in its stupidity, why do these blokes continually think the rules don't apply to them?

my personal opinion on de belin goes way beyond this particular incident
but you're right ... the nerve of them, and the stupidity ... but then, for him, the gutlessness ... hiding under a bed!?! so he knows it's wrong but as a grown man (i won't say adult) with an "arguably" enhanced sense of responsibility, he hides when it's time to be called to account

Saw an exercise on bigfooty years ago (probably a decade) when someone numerically tallied up a team's success using their total wins and then adding incremental bonus points for each step of the finals they made. 10 points for an elimination final exit, 20 for semi final, 40 for prelim loss, 80 for GF loss and 160 for premiership. In theory if you use this over any period of time it's supposed to track who has had the most prolonged or most consistent levels of success.

I added that up for the AFL era (1990-) to see where we ranked, including the half finished season right now, and this is the finalised rank. We came out 4th overall.

Sorted by average per season to account for expansion teams.

1. Geelong (53.3)
2. West Coast (50.2)
3. Hawthorn (46.4)
4. Sydney (39.7)
5. Collingwood (39.1)
6. North Melbourne (34.4)
7. Adelaide (33.6)
8. Brisbane Lions/Bears (33.3)

9. Essendon (33.3)
10. Port Adelaide (30.7)
11. Richmond (29.7)
12. GWS (27.3)
13. Western Bulldogs (27.0)

Slow day at work or lockdown?

Sorry, didn't mean that to be rude just funny!

That's actually very interesting, were away wins factored in?

I like this idea Scary... I'd probably argue an exponential type system, where the gaps get greater the further you get, would be more reflective of success. After all, the goal of footy is premierships.

If that was the case I'd expect then that the Hawks, Tigers & Lions would all improve position. We'd drop.

I agree that a premiership year should not be able to be matched easily, i.e. a single premiership year using this system can be nearly equaled by 3 seasons of preliminary losses for example, but because it's factoring in 30 years I think the sample size is large enough that movement would be small.

Richmond are low despite having the equal 3rd amount of premierships because they are also a club that has made the finals the fewest times, only 9 finals appearances in 30 years. Only Fremantle, GWS, Fitzroy and Gold Coast are fewer and those clubs have played way fewer seasons than Richmond obviously. So this is a golden age amongst a consistent amount of hopelessness; similar can be said for Brisbane.

From what I can tell this mostly values consistency more than anything.

Day off and I'm quite happy doing nothing today :p
No home or away or anything like that, just total wins and finals.

I've been a long-time follower of the dragons, I'm absolutely livid by the actions of these players and the relative light suspensions they received. At times like these it makes me appreciate the Swans a whole lot more! We're such a well run club and players are so well behaved. flipping Dragons lol

All fined more than what the police charged them with. All suspended for at least a week. One player sacked. Seems overs compared to what other 20 somethings get hit with.

yes, but all our elite sports stars (and celebrities, and fckng politicians) have been cut way more slack than the average dingus, particularly in regards being allowed to keep playing the games they're highly paid for ... unlike all those poor bstards who've lost jobs and are no longer receiving financial help ... or the ones that never got help in the first place
maybe the punishments are harsher because they should be a whole lot more fckng grateful for their lot, and be aware of what they're putting at risk, and generally showing a bit more class and sense (football players and class, ha!!) and not rubbing it in the faces of their 'adoring' public

There was a party held during lockdown in an apartment at Waterloo from which there are now 8 COVID cases and none of the attendees have been charged. Fear that if fines flow people wont assist the investigation. So I guess if they had NRL players attend the party the fines would have flowed….

i know about the waterloo do, and i think (although not absolutely sure) the chief health officer actually publicly praised some of them for coming forward to contact authorities and help with tracing ... it must be still likely they'll receive some punishment
and that's gotta be better than hiding under a friggin bed

Yes, compared to others but they're not like others. They have special dispensation to continue their work under strict conditions which they have purposely breached. The couldn't suspend the players for longer because the dragons would then have to forfeit the following match, as they wouldn't have enough players to field a team. This would cause issues with integrity of the competition. I hope no AFL fans/clubs/sponsors etc. experience the shitstorm dragons supporters have experienced over the last few days.

he looks about five years older, it's sharp
my son is a facial hair aficionado, would be very impressed ... but then, my son has the world's most awful mullet
Is there such a thing as a good mullet?

Is there such a thing as a good mullet?

apparently it's quite the anti-fashion these days ... but even true mullet lovers would be disgusted at my son's ... what's worse is his girlfriend encourages and helps him with it ... but then, for several years he's told me he wishes jimmy barnes would adopt him ...
not sure where i went so, so wrong

It is hard to believe but "knee surgeons in Belgium say they have identified a previously unfamiliar ligament in the human knee"!!!
They must have been looking at the wonders of Tom Hickey's knee ;)
