Seems the concept of "and" rather than "or" may be unfamiliar to you. It is entirely logical that the game has evolved to the point where the basics "and" more sophisticated rotational defence can and must coexist. Time to move on from 1976 thinking.
Great to have you back CD, have missed your posts as there on a par with our old friend Dudley, keep up the good work

I dont know who Dudley is but I'd like to think you are being respectful. Positional vs rotational defence and how the game has changed in the last 40 years provides great scope for discussion. Show us that you are able to play the ball and not the man.

Thanks mate, great post as always these days

Your one liners make great reading but I am wondering why no discussion about the changes to defensive strategy. You seem so quick to play the man, surely you have deeper thoughts that add to the football discussion. What do see as you the main differences between 1976 and 2015 defensive style? Such a waste to see your experience and insight wasted on sarcasm, name dropping and personal snipes.

That's why I wouldn't bother with those that have no idea mate. I know my footy and I know a lot of people high up in it. That's not bragging, its a fact and i'm not saying i'm always right, but I know a lot more than others.

Mate if you got all these great connections and ideas, let the stories fly. Love a good footy opinion.

I was replying to CD, I will let ideas go when I have to

Well why don't you grace us with your infinite wisdom now, old man. One who has played the game at the highest level should always seek to educate those who have played only the lowest park footy. Educate us on how different footy is at that level and how it has evolved over the last 50 years.

Show us what the coaches are thinking in a situation like the GF, where we were being destroyed and how they could have plugged the breakage in the dam. Give us lower lifeforms the wisdom of your knowledge. Tell us how Swans can match up this year on the Hawks and what strategies need to be employed to counter their aggression, skill and power. Tell us if we need to change players who don't fit the mould in the so called Best 22. Give us your wisdom Oh Great One!

If I know bedford, he'll probably just say we were soft and need to harden up. I don't think you need inside knowlege to figure that out, footy isn't rocket science.

Simple , we were outcoached, bigheaded , talked about our tackle count, smiled our way through the parade, while all along they were steely eyed, tough and brilliant.
Time to move on , lets hope we learn from it and its not about the home and away, its about how we react in finals against them, its about leaving our big targets at home and not running in to the backline, its about them worrying about us. Get it in quick to them.

Those that come from the Mark the ball and kick the shit out of it era would have no idea how to answer any of this, however there's always those from that era that can baffle their disciples with Bullshit.

No its making a point though isn't it ?

Depends on each persons point of view I guess. I have no issue with any posts so far just want to make sure no one gets too personal or over the top in their replies.

What is the topic by the way ?

Depends really? Grundy's contract, Buddy's Knee or Heeney articles on afl.com

Is it weird that a few hours ago I was thinking about how much I was looking forward to the 2015 NAB Cup beginning as I was missing the AFL and I actually internally thought at one point "who was it that played in the 2014 grand final"? I had a complete mental blank for a few seconds.

I cant wait for anything to start just so i don't have to be reminded of the 134-74 score on top of every article
