I was at the game. Hawthorn came at us hard and we just folded. They weren't even particularly dirty, just very physical. It's been our Achilles Heel for a long time. Carlton did it to us but we fought back better, just not enough.
Every time we draft a twig I remember 2014 and my burnt in memory of Jake Lloyd getting bounced from pillar to post.

Last year & 2014 we got beaten up around the ball. Unfortunately you can also see it in the Carlton game. We're susceptible to physical teams and we need to get that part of the game back into the team. Otherwise we're not winning anything.

How did that side lose.

Watched some highlights and then the prelim, that was an awesome team.

Ok Hawthorn were obviously great, so how did the 2014 side get flogged might be the question and not even compete at all.

Such a wasted team of talent imo

I disagree with Caro's take on Grundy but it's disappointing that this board isn't immune to talking about her differently to male journos.

Caro is great, excellent journo, gets her facts right, breaks lots of big stories, is trusted by pretty much all the leaders of the game -- the very definition of a top journo. Plus being the only senior female in the businses in the last 30-40 years means she's copped literally 10x more crap than any male journo and has survived. it

it sounds a bit over the top but the footy media business is the business of hot takes. A minute later that deep intellectual conversation would have moved on to bigger topics like, Carlton wow! Kane Cornes expresses 50 opinions a day, of which at least a quarter are WTF, and no one gets too worked about him personally like they do Caro.

Also she pisses off a lot of diehard fans by mercilessly slaughtering their sacred cows - she is lethal, when he hits a target she hits it.

I also celebrate that stupid fan poll which I assume is asking random Sydney people which team they support, a bit like asking random Aussies which Test cricket team do they follow. How long before GWS becomes the 'second largest club' ha.

Hawthorn targeted our match winners and bashed them. Every time they could put body on them they did and we didn’t respond well. We don’t seem to respond well to that sort of challenge, that and a flooding defence we always seem to struggle

They kept it out wide so we couldn't get it and did a lot of blocking . Anyhow have never watched a replay and never will .

I don’t agree here ashep and I have previously called out Caro for her balanced views. You can’t tarnish the whole board for a singular comment (if that has triggered it for you).

Where any media person takes a position against our club I will always call it out, whether they are male or female. It’s the actual position rather than who has said it.

I am more concerned with the cosy relationship of the AFL with the media which means the AFL are not always held to account than sexism on this board.
