Preview Potential 2019 retirees

From my club, Grundy and McVeigh have already gone. I hope Jack follows them and I'll be at least somewhat surprised if Smith's still there next season.

Franklin I imagine stays because his contract for the next two seasons are still worth a lot of money and the money is still on the cap regardless so moving him on makes little sense despite his body having fallen apart. We don't really have any super veterans apart from those five.

By the looks of him, Joel Selwood is totally cooked....And Ablett Junior & Harry Taylor aren't far behind him....Huge drop-off for the Cats next year.
If they're cooked this year and then retire wouldn't the team improve?

Who knows if they are cooked

Burgoyne at their age was playing great footy, its unlikely all three will continue, they are extremely high quality players and hard to replace , Ablett I would say is the first to go, Who knows with taylor and Selwood should play on

On form I think all 3 would go on, but they're all year to year propositions now.

I was sure this would be Taylor's last year. He was cooked last year. Has been really good this year though.

THe only reason I say ablett is he will be 36 next year , there is a time when he will retire and at 36 it seems more likely than not

You would know best on Taylor if you feel the game has paased him its time

Selwood you would think will not retire

Selwood still has 2 years to run on his contract and I'd think he'll see them out
