I'Ve been thinking latley (no it didn't hurt) a potential rule change should be if the ball is still live after the siren I.E the ball is kicked and mid air during siren....then play is live meaning a Mark would still count meaning a possible shot on goal or even free kick...

Thoughts?

I was thinking that even if you've marked it and the siren goes it should be game over and that the rule should be applied retrospectively.

Being able to finish the play while the ball remains live (no stoppages, tackles etc) after the siren sounds certainly adds excitement in the NRL. On that basis I wouldn’t be against it, but it’s probably a low priority change.

It would add excitement and occasionally change the outcome of games ..

Personally i think one day this will happen

Would have been handy in the '94 and '07 finals series.

To me a kick before siren should count until ball is dead
It already does. You’re proposing that it can be marked after the siren and then another kick can then “count”. It has to end somewhere.

Leave it as it is.

What I think they do need to do is tidy up the man on the mark rule. At the moment some players stand there for an eternity and others are twitching to pounce the second the ump calls play on. The only issue is sometimes the umpire is behind the play and the man on the mark cant see or hear the umpires instruction. I think they should trial a 2nd whistle blow or a signal that the players can hear to balance the ledger slightly. I do love the way players are moving the ball quickly but sometimes the advantage seems to large.

The 1981 night grand final where North got the rub of the green after the siren. Was at that game. :(

That was only coz the umps didn't hear the siren but so I dunno what I'm talkin about. I'll see myself out.
