Dont just advocate a locking up of someone just because you dont like what they did.

It isn't just because I didn't like what he did, I want him locked up because he is a psychopath, an 11 year old knows the consequences of cruel actions, he knows that if you set fire to a living thing, it will cause it extreme pain & probably death.

The 5 year old, well they still haven't the capability to comprehend fully the consequences & effects of cruel behaviour, so there is hope for her, as long as she gets help now, so she doesn't continue being a sadistic little brat.

Would you recommend as I said , instead of ''locking them up'' that someone remove them from their environment and see why they did this , and why they are sadistic?
And hopefully they can be productive without institutionalising them.

Yes the 5 year old, as I said she is still young enough to help without institutionalising her, but the 11 year old definitely not, he is already a psychopath, sure find out why & try & help him, but locked away from society.

Its an absolute joke. This kids deserve to rot in hell. ******** those **********. I dont normally get worked up over stuff like this but this is a disgrace.

Ted ask these ''animal lovers'' how many agree with killing a shark?

Did the harmless dog kill any children? No. It was tied up and helpless. The shark killed a human. If a dog kills a human then it too will be put down and rightfully so as it obviously hadn't been brought up correctly.

I eat animal but there is a difference between burning a live dog that is a pet than humanely putting down a cow.

I tend to agree with this analysis but to lock him away for ''future crimes'' ? Wrong and mantis knows she is using an animal to debate a silly point about locking up ''future criminals''

What they did to the animal was sickening but to say it means any more than a human death is very poor form IMO

If I found someone who had burnt my dog I would do something then for what they did not for something they may do later on.

Where did I say people should be locked up because they had the potential to commit 'future crimes'? Perhaps you are confusing my statements with someone else. The common law doesn't allow for 'predicted' crimes for a very good reason - they are simply that, and prosecution should only arise from an alleged action, not a hypothesis.

My point was that it is beneficial for the community, the police and psychiatric authorities to be alerted to acts such as the one which started this thread.

No fish? Im sure your favourite is fillet o fish at Maccas.

Eggs? Free range?

Don't eat Maccas & yes free rang eggs, my boss has chooks in his backyard. :D

we have the next door neighbours chooks laying eggs in our garage.

I bet you have eaten maccas.

Long, long time ago fortunately.

OH, even Kenny's diet consists of 70% fruit, vegetables & grains & only 30% meat, unfortunately dogs can't be total vegetarians & the only meat he does have are bones from the butchers.

******** and nothing else.

eech, what horrible stories!

now excuse me while i go & scoff on my BBQ meatlover's pizza!

i trust all the animal lovers here are strict vegans?

jean-paul sartre came up with a concept a while ago called 'bad faith' - believing & advocating something you don't practice. i.e. not practicing what you preach. it leads to existential guilt. nausea. prozac.

would y'all get as worked up if someone posted detailed stories about what a cow goes through to end up on yr pizza/in yr burger?

p.s. i doubt the 5 year-old has any clue what she's doing.

No, because there is a difference between animals bred for eating and animals bred for pet ownership.

Can you explain this. Does the lamb know his life is worthless because he is bred for human consumption?

Is this difference in our perception because sure as hell the lamb wouldnt agree with you.

Of course not. I'm talking about human perception.

So it is percieved to be OK to kill animals to eat.

Sounds more like hypocrisy on the part of us humans that we outrage at such awful acts against pets but then sit down to our roast lamb with mint sauce.

And unfortunately you are yet to be one of them.

Quite frankly i feel more sorry for the dog than i do for people who get murdered.

I'd rather see this happen than a human and thats for sure....

See that p*sses me off to, I don't like to see things like this happen to animals or humans, people who say they prefer one to the other, need to take a good hard look at themselves.

Cruelty & torture is abhorrent & shouldn't be tolerated to either man or beast equally, to say one is more acceptable is WRONG.

animals just tend to be that little more helpless than people..... maybe thats why...
Exactly. That's what makes crimes like this so repulsive to people, because our pets are so dependent on us, and abusing that is just disgusting.

I'm not comparing this to human murders, that isn't the topic here.

Utter stupidity....He/she said that he/she would rather see a human die....

As most sane people would agree with the answer of this question im going to pose...

If you had to choose your son or your dog who would it be?

And lets say you have a son....

You wouldnt really care about animals where I'm from and human life and struggle is everything...
