I think you are underrating knights, he could play a HFF role like a gun for you guys, or could be a key cog in your midfield.

Did you see Thomas's last match?

11 inside 50's AND a couple of goals.

We already have Adams, Wright and Harper to play half forward. Knights would go in the midfield rotation.

I rate Thomas, dont worry about that. Played jrs u13s with him, pay special attention to him when i watch North.

Not really. You guys were trying to off load Thomas to us for Smack.

Very humorous. :D:thumbsu:

That would explain Shauns sharp pay rise.

If he is so good, why do you want to get rid of him?

:D

I actually meant it from your end too :p

Heh.

I stand by my belief the Crows board is the second best team forum on BF:thumbsu:

If a handicapper was weighting Thomas and Knights, Thomas would be the one in the number one saddle cloth.

Gunston would be much more suitable to our needs.

Thomas and pick 18 for Gunston and Knights. Thank you linesmen, thank you ball boys.

Reasonable suggestion. Rate Thomas highly. Knights is one of the most overated players on our list. He has has what 10 good games in how many years. Gunston had looked ordinary, kicks a few goals against bottom teams and suddenly he is a superstar.

Problem is everyone, inernally and externally, seems to think we have all this talent when the reality is our list crap and needs to be turned over. I dont pretend to know who or what has caused it but there is a clearly a cancer within our club and the sooner we get rid of players like this the better. Give me Thomas and 18 for these 2 twats and I would bite your hand off.

Still wouldn't mind Warran from North, think he showed quiet a bit in his first season but hasn't really had a chance since. Do you North guys know what his contract status is like?

You see Knights last full season uninjured?

Should've been in the AA squad.

And Ben Warren was dating Suzi Olsen, so pass.

Uncontracted and available for the right price I would assume.

Personally, I have a lot of time for him, but the coach seems to overlook him a lot.

He'd be a favoritre with the fans, the bloke gives everything. A very honest player.

He's a limited player to be honest. His main strength is his work-rate, which is phenomenal. Generally, the reports from the VFL are that he worked tirelessly and did the little things but his numbers just aren't there. Aaron Edwards has had a career best year and kept him out of the side. With Aaron Black showing good signs, it's hard to see Milky getting much of a go next year.

He's never going to be a star but, with all due respect, he'd be an improvement on a few of the lads that will remain on your list next year. Whether or not he has enough upside to persist with is a different matter.

For what it's worth, I expect North to show a great deal of interest in Gunston. I assume Melbourne and Carlton will as well.

Yeah I seem to remember him being the sort of player that hit packs very hard and gave it his all (for some reason I seem to remember a few in Melb comparing him to Roo but maybe it was Cunnington?). Seem to remember him having a really good game where he kicked 3-4 goals in a half before going off injured at half time and not coming back on but I thought he showed a fair bit in that match...

I didn't really watch him/pay attention to him in 2010 and not at all this year so I don't know a great deal about him, but is there any chance he could build up enough of a tank to go into the midfield and be a crash and bash sort of player? Might not be the outside player in which we need but I also think we need one that will just run into packs fearlessly and hopefully take out a few in the process.

What do you guys think the "right price" would be for Warran anyways? Couldn't see him costing too much considering he has taken a step backwards as such this season.

As for Jetta and Garlett, very much doubt either club would want to trade them unless they asked to move as both are still improving as players.

You'd just about get him for free, mate. I don't anticipate us using anything more than our 2nd round pick at the draft and he's not worth that. It might just come down to us trying to find him a new club rather than delisting him.

Just on Gunston, you guys won't get screwed. Better for him to want to go to Melbourne than Perth, Queensland or Sydney. You'll get plenty of offers that will ensure you get his true value, maybe more. I also doubt he'd have the nerve to select a club of preference.

With Maric, Gunna and possibly Knights on the trade table and with Craigy gone it will be interesting to see if we are able to attract players to the club during the trade period

There has been a feeling for some time that players had concerns about the AFC program, over trained, too robust, too structured and not enough fun

Thomo said last night that the plays want to play a more exciting brand of footy and with flair, if a new coach can bring this he will also find it easier to attract players in the trade and free agency markets

Some suggestions for opposition supporters just to get a understanding of value (don't go ape if you don't like them, be constructive):

Carl: Gunston + 2nd Pick for Gibbs

Ric: Gunston for Edwards + Connors

Haw: Gunston for Young + 2nd Pick

Nth: Gunston + 4th for Thomas + Warren
or Gunston for 1st + Warren

StK: Gunston for Stevens + 3rd
or Gunston + 3rd for Armitage + 2nd

WB: Gunston + 3rd for Griffen
or Gunston for Howard

That wouldn't be enough to get a player of Griffen's quality. I also think you've got your values of Griff and Gibbs the wrong way around. Griffen would be a more valuable player for us to hypothetically get hold of IMO.

Regardless, we're not going to get either. If Griff was ever going to come back, surely it would have been when his father was terminally ill. We also apparently had a big crack at him last year and he re-signed again. Carlton would want far more than what would be worth giving for Gibbs. Those horses have bolted.

Gunston for Howard is the one that interests me. I wonder how WB view his value? They reached a bit for him at the draft and he hasn't been able to show much since then. Given that Jack's demonstrated his quality at AFL level we'd probably want Howard + sweetener, but I doubt the Dogs would see it that way.

Yeah, you guys made a big play for Griff last year, but he re-signed for 2 years. I wouldn't have been surprised if he left when his dad was very ill, but thankfully he didn't. He is very entrenched in Melbourne now.
We would ask for more than Gunston and a 2nd round pick as well.

Fair call. I was just factoring in their club's position on the ladder as an incentive to return home (i.e easier to to get Griffen home than Gibbs). Both players would be valuable but are probably unrealistic like you said. Who else would you want from these teams though (realistic)? I'm struggling to come up with so realistic alternatives ATM.

Warren is likely to be delisted, not trade worthy IMO
