He will have limited minutes during the trial and we have a full 17 days before round 1. He is 34 not 84 - a 2 hour 30 minute flight is just fine.

I doubt the 7th defender will be sub. Outside of that, the only question re the 23 is whether Milera did enough in the Port game to hold out Nank.

Well reckon if any of our small forwards get an injury, he is first up.

And rule a line thru Milera, he is done. Contract expires this year, rookie draft him later this year, no contract extension - he has got the last 5 years on bloody good money, he owes the club.

Given he's only on an extended bench and we do have one of those smalls out, I don't think that's right.

He will be a coach of some sort when he retires.

His Footy IQ got him into the AFL, he knows the game. Just lacks physical ability for the highest level.

Tex used the term 'quality over quantity' for last year and yet we saw him play nearly every game in a dead season despite obviously being impacted by injury. He'll be putting up his hand to play every game, nothing will change that.

Has anyone actually posted that they fear he's in the frame for round 1. I've seen a bunch dismayed that he appears ahead of guys like Taylor and Dowling in the pecking order, but I've not seen a single post that suggests the poster reckons he's a round 1 possibility.

If Murphy comes out and plays 3 quarters for half a dozen mediocre possessions which even on a good day is what we can expect from him, will Davies accept him near the best 23 over and above better form players. Imagine if Dowling comes out in the Sanfl like he did last year and demolishes every side week after week while Murphy is sitting there getting his 8 possessions in the AFL. How can that be justified.

It would make sense for Tex to play if that is the best preparation for Round 1. That's been the call all pre-season hasn't it? Focus on Round 1. Wins early are huge and we need our best team in the best form it can be. But yes, he definitely needs to be managed. Hopefully when we've got a few wins on the board and the team is confident.
