I reckon that will be pretty close to the mark, although Bombers more likely to take Blumfield over Zantuck.

Port could spring a surprise, but the top 5 look pretty set.

What a joke - will be all over in 30 seconds.

Mate we can have 2 picks in teh draft. So hoping 1 recyceled player pick 1 probably mckee and then we can have either grundy or kirkby with pick 8
yes but pre season drafts are more expensive than rookie drafts so we could pick up kirkby or whoever with are first rookie pick for a much cheaper price.

Now that there is only 1 more day left, I'll change my picks a little:

Round One
One -- Richmond Knobel
Two -- Collingwood Caracella
Three -- Carlton Porter
Four -- Kangaroos Picioane
Five -- Fremantle Schofield
Six -- Essendon Zantuck
Seven -- Port Adelaide Grundy

Round Two
Eight -- Richmond Kirkby

Swap Blumfield & Zantuck and you might be closer to the mark... My opinion anyway.

Im hoping for -

Round One
Richmond; Kirkby

Round Two
Richmond; Grundy / another young tall

More realisticly thou McKee 1, young tall 2.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Richmond take Knobel instead.

Richmond - Knobel
Collingwood - Caracella
Carlton - McKee/Porter - I hope they go for Porter, but McKee is more likely
North - Picioane
Freo - Schofield
Essendon - Zantuck
Port - Grundy
Richmond - Kirkby

The winners out of that would be Richmond, getting a decent ruckman and a young KPP with enormous potential. North would be the losers.

Well IMO Caracella and Schofield are the only ones who should be recycled, but one can expect Knobel, Mckee and Zantuck to be picked.
How it will fall into place is anyones guess. I would not be surprised if Port replace schofield with a player like Paul Richardson
Of the untried players these are in the mix.
Heath Grundy, Beau Wilkes, Nick Becker, Chris Gooley, Paul Richardson, Justin Sherman, Ryan Bain, Ed Clarke, Ruory Kirkby, Alan Toovey, Ben Sharpe, Eddie Betts, Sam Gooley, Danyle Pearce, Will Hamill, Mark Rovere, Dale May, Shannon Cox, Adam Prior, Earl Shaw, Ryan Herring, Ryan Nye, Sam Dwyer, Xavier Leslie, Ryan Jackson, Jesse D Smith, Tom Redden, Seamus Young, Travis Baird, Tim Sherringham, Luke Herrington, Patrick Rose, Troy Bartlett, Wade Twomey, Montgomery, Rowan Nanya, Guy Martin, Taylor Collins, Ben Davies, Renick Watts, Nathan Anderson, Sam Gibson, Ben Jolley, Evan Johnson, Andrew Gilham, Greg Bentley, Shane Neaves, Clinton Young, Sam Barnes, Michael West, James Angus, Tim Hill, Will Thursfield, Jackson Barling, Jordan Wood, Kristopher Pendlebury and others who didn't play in the TAC cup. I thought that you've still got hope that the roos will Kirkby or Grundy. But I agree with you, there is no way the roos are going to keep Picioane's hopes up like that, keeping him as the only non-kangaroo player training with us, then pick another player. If they did, they've done the right thing but it'll be cruel.

Certainly looks like we will take Knobel now.

...Justin Sherman...
He didn't last long on the Lions list...

With it now looking almost certain that Richmond will take Knobel, is there a chance that Carlton might take Zantuck?

Or are they absolutely set on taking a ruckman?

I would have thought Zantuck has far more potential than either Porter or McKee, not to mention being considerably younger.

My take...

1-Rich Knobel (Pretty much confirmed)
2-Coll Caracella (Certainty)
3-Carl Zantuck or McKee or Picioane (Unknown) Still need another experienced ruckman IMO, may plonk for McKee.
4-Roos Picioane (Pretty much confirmed) Roos' plans may be scuppered by Blues - if they pick Lance, now that Knobel is out of the picture.
5-Freo Schofield (Certainty)
6-Ess Blumfield or Zantuck (Unknown) Zantuck has much more of an upside than Blumfield. Will Dons use their heads or hearts?
7-Port Zantuck or Blumfield or Shackleton or Grundy or Kirkby (Unknown) With the oldest list in the comp, Port should go for youth. Blumfield is the wrong side of 25 (with a history of recent injuries), whereas Zantuck has much room for improvement and is only 22.
8-Rich Kirkby or Grundy (Will almost definitely take the 'best' remaining youngun')

Yep, the decision by Richmond to take Knobel has put the Blues in a bit of a pickle, especially as they were so keen on him.

I reckon they might take Porter and McKee will be overlooked.

Seems more and more likely Port will take who is left of Blumfield and Zantuck, but they are the club most likely to pull a surprise.

Richmond will pass on pick 8 - why would they pick Kirkby then when they can pick him pick 1 in the rookie draft for half the cost and on a 1 year deal?

So they can get Kirkby and Grundy?

coz caracella wants 250k, and they can barely afford to pay Knobel's 150k that hes asking.

And there is no guarantee Zantucks 2005 payments will be covered by another team. He will be a magpie next yr.
