Tigers plan for pre-season draft

Richmond has six selections available in the upcoming AFL National Draft (No. 13, 26, 58, 60, 74 and 90) but intends ‘saving’ the final one for the pre-season draft.

And, the Tigers will take an ‘open-minded approach’ into the pre-season draft, which will be held on Tuesday, December 12.

“We took a mature-age player in Trent Knobel two years ago (in the pre-season draft) and then went for a youngster in Matty White last year, so we’re certainly prepared to look at all options,” said Richmond coach Terry Wallace.

“We’re more than comfortable to add a senior player to our list via the pre-season draft.

“If we think that a player can have an impact on games for us, we’ll go after him.

“It’s something we’ll just weigh up over the next few weeks as we see who’s available.”

A smart move methinks. there may be some quality available this year, carlton have already committed to ackland. in terms of our pick, i was talking to a mate who is a mad crows supporter but also follows the sanfl and he said that haden skipworth was really unlucky not to play more for the crows this year, in fact in his opinion he should have been playing at least half of the year. he reckons whoever picks him up will be getting a really good player.

What do you reckon about Adam Morgan from the bulldogs. Looked alright early on in the year until his knee injury. Good height 195cms could be worth a punt for the tigers

skipworth isnt that bad, deserves to be on an afl list but isnt gonna improve your side a hell of a lot

im over the crows, they are gonna fall away badly next year

all robot and no heart

No way, has already been at Port and the Bulldogs, don't need him.

anyone heard any news on joel perry from the roos. i know the club was interested in him before the trading, just wondering if he has re-signed or if he is going into the psd. we probly dont need him now we have polak, but could be some insurance.

I dont think so mate, look out for them when they get a full list.

Still won as many matches as they did with injuries crawling out of their ass. Unlucky not to be in the Grand Final, with injuries still sprawled all over the kitchen floor for them too.

They made a big statement last week about re-signing a bunch of defenders but it didn't include Perry. I think it was Brown, Petrie and someone else. Not sure Perry would last to us if he made the PSD?

Skipworth
Obst
Keating
Sporn
Cartilage
Lucy
Ries
Ball
Kane
Thurley
Powell
Smith
Davidson

See anything we like? IMHO I don't. The only thing that makes me think is Lucy and Kane, and obviously they were delisted for a reason.

What about Travis Gaspar and Josh Thurgood they would have something to offer.

Thurgood couldn't wrestle my 4-month old without getting injured and it seems Gaspar would have had every chance at soggy toast. I couldn't see any player taken in the PSD playing more than 8 games for us in 07, so can't really see why we'd bother - rather take a punt
