I would expect we would have a look at the best available kids left and draft one of them. We also get first rookie so could get a couple of bargains

Rockliff
DeBoer
Tom Hill
Sheehan
Klemke
Sibasado
Allwright
Geartner

Some highly rated players who didnt get drafted. DeBoer and Sheehan could be handy and Rockliff can play could be nice as a rookie.

Subject to the talent available a KPF should be the priority IMO. He doesn't have to be a champion (it's the PSD anyway), just take a decent grab and slot a few.

Sibasado is a KP prospect. I hope we have a good look at him over the next few weeks

Could be worth a punt considering Emma Quayle's wrap (below). Either way what do we have to lose? Good height and can take a few grabs, if the guy can kick straight then why not? My only query is that if he was worth a thought then wouldn't he have been picked up in the ND? Many clubs (as is the norm) passed on late picks.

25. Casey Sibosado

(Xavier College/ Oakleigh Chargers, 192cm, 72kg)
Here’s my smokey. I can’t see anyone picking Sibosado this high, but once he turns out to be a star I want to be able to say “I told you so”. (note: If he doesn’t work out let’s pretend this article never happened!). Casey has talent, pure and simple — he gets the ball when he shouldn’t, has a knack for nudging players in the back with his chest and getting his arms up to mark, he times his leaps really well and can play down back and go for a run, although I like him as a forward most. The trick for him is forcing his own involvement in a game. But once he’s in it, he can do anything. If he makes it, he’ll be hugely exciting to watch.

Sounds good - go and get him!!

Well, now that Leigh Brown has been taken.... :)

Tom Hill and Sibasado are probably the only two i'd consider from that list. There's a kid, Luke Thompson from the Geelong Falcons who looks pretty good. He's bottom aged, about 191cm's plays as a leading forward, but can play midfield as well, was unlucky to not get drafted. Also Tom Simpkin who played across HB for Geelong Falcons. Another one is Jack Weston from Gippsland Power who is a medium forward who has pretty good evasive skills and is a prolific goalkicker...I've heard good things about Tyler Brimmacombe from Sturt. He's about 191cm's and is very athletic, plays forward or back. Taylor Gilchrist from Sandringham Dragons is a fantastic kick and we might have a look at him. I think most of the ruck & KP prospects have been taken (except for Hamish Shepheard from WA), so its unlikely we'll be able to go for talls (unless there's one from left field...) Tom Hill (Northern Knights) seems to be the pick of the talls at 198cm's, so we might have a look at him in the PSD...

Rockliff would be a good pick up, played a great game in TAC GF. He is an unlikely type that can play good footy and has a good goal sense. Hill would also be a great pick up, he is bottom age and would take time to develop but he is top 20 next year for sure and top 10 potential.

Agreed that Rockliff deserves a shot at AFL footy but I don't think it should be with us. I've seen a lot of him in action and he's a really natural footballer but not a great athlete. He won the TAC Cup goalkicking and won the Murray Bushrangers' BnF, so there's no doubt he can play as a medium forward. Very creative and good overhead.

But I think maybe, with Maric, Wona, Sylvia, Bate and a couple of our draft selections, our FP/HFF spots seem to be filled.

I'd rather go with Sibasado, a KPF prospect who has a lot of X factor about him. I think that's an area of greater need for us.

PS Rockliff isn't bottom aged. Not available next year.

Rockliff isn't, but Tom Hill the Northern Knights ruckman/ forward is. I think if we don't go for Cousins it should be the 198cm 17 yr old who is still growing with huge potential.

I know that you can't take underaged players (born 1991) as rookies & i think it's the same with PSD picks, so that would rule out Hill, which is quite disappointing as i think he'll be one of the leading ruckman of next years draft.

It'll be interesting to who we get to come train with us, but i'll be massively underwhelmed if it's Hughes or even Traeger we take in the PSD. After how we've picked in the ND, i'd hope we'd take a speculative ruckman or KP forward that we get to come train, a Sibasado or Clarke might be options.

I share your opinion M4C. I also wanted to know if we are able to take a 17 yo in the PSD. From memory I can't recall a 17 yo being taken in the PSD so I don't think the rules allow for it.

If there is the possibility of taking a 17 yo, I think we should be looking at either:

Tom Hill - (Ruckman) or Luke Thompson - (KP Fwd or Def)

If it is a choice of the 18 yo + it should definitely be a tall KPP or Ruck. I think that leaves us with a choice of either:

Casey Sibasado (KP Fwd or Back), Steven Gaertner (Ruck or KPP) or even someone from left field like Michael Lourey (KPP) from Frankston Dolphins.

Lets hope the club gets these guys down to the club for training so they can check them out

Freo took Clarke at pick 37...
I wouldn't mind seeing Browne come train with us however...

Woops, i meant Browne, i always mix their names up.

Others who i think might be a chance are Smouha and McCauley, both from Queensland. Both are about 20 and they're ruckman that i think could be developed. Gaertner might be another option as a forward

I do like the look of Browne. Seems to be well above average below his knees for a 204cm player and is a big, strong unit who may be able to play a few games next year.

From what I've seen, either Gaertner, Brown or Sibosado at PSD #1 would make me very happy, hopefully with one of the others falling to pick 1 in the rookie draft.

Sibasado would be a good pick up IMO.

We should get someone reasonable out of the PSD which will round out our recruiting nicely.
